"Do you want to shift your automatic like a manual? Need to control torque converter lockup and shift firmness? Level 10 Performance has created line device that makes it happen; the PTS™ Shifttronic Shifter, It's a plug-and-play module that mounts in the cockpit and links directly with your transmission computer harness to provide manual control of up and downshifts, shift pressure and converter lockup.
Level 10 Performance can allow you to shift your computer-controlled automatic domestic car or truck like a manual: it's the Level 10 PTS™ Shifttronic Manual-Automatic Shifter. Once plugged in, you have the option to go to any gear you please, upshifting and downshifting when you want. The Shifttronic Manual-Automatic is great for drag racers, rally drivers and anyone who wants positive trans control. The controller also offers you the option of changing how hard the trans shifts, and allows the driver to lock the torque converter on deceleration for real engine braking-like a manual shift transmission. Because hundreds of applications are available visit them at www.levelten.com for more information and to order your Shifttronic kit."
web site says only for domestics, but i'm e-mailing them to inquire about an SVX 4EAT application. post if you're interested - maybe generate some enthusiasm for them to make one for us. :)

There was a guy over on NASIOC that was working on something similar in his spare time. He never quite finished it though. Just yesterday, I posted a link to the thread somewhere around here. Kinda makes me wish I was keeping my 4EAT!

Level 10 also have a couple of other things as well for a couple of years. If you are going to make your auto into a manual (unless you don't know how to drive a stick shift), might as well go all out and get the real thing. Costs about the same

believe it or not, i would prefer an automatic. i live in the South Hills of Pittsburgh were there are......many hills, not to mention lots of traffic. a manual would be fun for a short time, then become a royal pain.
i'd really like an SMG clutchless manual like BMW has. :)

I just talked to their svx guy last week about controling the shift points on a 4eat, and he said they did not have anything, that it was computer controlled, and they did not do that. He also said they do not change any of the gear ration, like to 4.11s or 4.44s. He only sugested that I/We buy the $698.00 valve body upgrade so that the actual shifts take .7 seconds, not the stock 1.2 seconds. Tom

i can't see why they could do it for the WRX 4EAT and not ours.

I lived in Pittsburgh for a few years and at the time I had a 5-speed Toyota pickup.

Doesn't the WRX 4EAT already have SportShift, or whatever Subaru calls their 4EAT manual mode? Nevermind, just answered my own question, seems its only on the Legacy.

Ya bringing it to Reading??? Sounds like that would be a hotter ticket than the 5 MT SVX's :D:D:D

I kind of figured the other Legacy-based vehicles would have it, but I didn't get to check because I was in class. I wonder why the Imprezas and Impreza-based vehicles don't have it, they're generally considered the sporty Subarus of today...
It does sound like a nice feature, I was looking at when I was scouting out and buying the parts from Level 10 for my transmission rebuild. I wouldn't do it now, I'm a bit strapped for cash as a result of the transmission problem, but if it will work on the SVX, I'd certainly consider it in the future.

Yes I'm interested - I'm building one right now. I've already built and installed my own electronic shift kit. It's similar to the Small Car kit, but fully electronic, (and better in my opinion.) I'm still ironing out the logic patterns for my Manual-Matic. I've worked out the controls and figured out how to integrate them, but I'm still undecided how I want to integrate the display. There simply aren't enough lights on the dash. My biggest problem right now is figuring out how to dupe the TCU into playing along. It thinks something's wrong and displays trouble codes - probably just like the Small Car kit. (I don't know if their kit does, but it should, yes?) I want this to be seamless, so it's gonna take some tinkering. I'll definitely let you guys know when I get this going. Just don't hold your breath.

I would much rather have a Shiftronic Tranny than a 5 speed, but if it all costs the same, then I'd go w/ a 5 speed.

followed the link but can't find their info on the shiftronic tranny... very interesting thought tho... and what exactly is the cost we're looking at? if its a 'plug and play' module, then installation shouldn't too much of a pain no?

its $498 for the WRX supposedly. no idea about installation.
i'm curious how the shifting will be achieved - i'd prefer a modified stick to do the shifting, but it could be steering wheel paddles.

Not sure about the dimensions, but maybe it would fit where the coin holder is.

alan, so are you ordering this in a month? let us know how/if it works.... this might be the next most exciting thing for the svx since the 5 speed swap.....

Level10 never even replied to my e-mail. i don't even know if they have an SVX application for that thing, but supposedly someone on another forum is getting one for their WRX. i'll wait and see about his promised review and pics....

Well to the best of my knowledge that it the only controller for "add on shiftronic" that level 10 has. I could be wrong.

A bit of advice, handed down from the Blondeman.
Make sure you talk to Pat (I can't remember his last name) when you call level 10. He seems to knw which end is up on an SVX. The other people at Level 10 don't.

I actually had one delivered when level 10 rebuilt my tranny. Looks like crap, and is not as functional as the shifter. Think about it... do you really want to look down at that box to figure out which gear you should shift into, when going into a corner? Now a paddle wheel system would be cool. Left up right down. Thats what we need. That on an alcone steering wheel would be way cool.

BTW....level 10 was also nice enough to take it back and not charge me.

I think Ill wait until someone wraps their 05 Legacy GT around a tree and snag the tranny with the steering wheel controllers
The 2005 Legacy 2.5 GT will offer a choice between a smooth-shifting 5-speed manual transmission or an all-new 5-speed electronic direct control automatic transmission with the SPORTSHIFT feature for manual control when desired. The driver can choose to shift manually using the console shift handle or shift buttons on the MOMO®-designed steering wheel.

Ah, if it were as simple as it sounds. Besides swapping the tranny (who knows if its even a direct swap), you have to deal with all the electronics that give you that cool shifting behavior.
