Got the Subie all tucked in and everything secured near her. Hopefully Fiona will be kind to us. Last time we had storms of this magnitude things were pretty rough. (Juan & Dorian) We were without power for 10 days after Juan.

I'm pleased to say that aside from being without power, phone and internet for four days and loosing some big trees the SVX and house are unscathed.
Fingers crossed for those in the path of Ian. |

I'm glad you and your family are all OK.

Re: What have you done to your SVX (or other Subaru) today?
Thanks for letting us know! I lost power so many times over the years that I finally got a generator. Now that I'm old and decrepit I'm getting one that turns itself on and off without me having to put on my galoshes and go out in the storm.

Re: What have you done to your SVX (or other Subaru) today?
The other day I removed the right front caliper because it was sticking and over heating. I extended the pistons and pressed them back in a few times and lubed the pins and pad mounts and got it working again. When I put the wheel back on and gave it a twist I discovered a very badly worn ball joint. $178 CAD over $200 with tax up here. I ordered one for $65 USD and will pick it up next trip to Ogdensburg, NY.
I also found a small hole in the right exhaust manifold which can likely be welded. I replaced the left one 2 years ago. Next I smelled fuel and found that a 10 year old section of rubber fuel line had let go. It's one that goes up and over the gas tank. What a pain in the butt to fish a new one through but I got it done. I jinxed things last week by saying " I haven't spent any money on repairs this year on the SVX". 298,000 KM and going strong! |
Re: What have you done to your SVX (or other Subaru) today?
Just had a review of my auto policy with the insurance company.
They said we see your vehicle now shows as a "vintage vehicle" they then wanted to know how much it was driven, if it was used in parades , car shows etc. then they asked me to give them an informal valuation of the car. That's a first. |
Re: What have you done to your SVX (or other Subaru) today?
All my SVXes are 25 years or older and are considered as antique vehicles. I have them registered as such. That means they can only be driven to shows, parades, meets, or to be serviced, and such. I have each one insured with Hagertys for a specific value. I am also a member of the Antique Automobile Club of America for my SVXes and have shown them at AACA shows. It's pretty weird to see an SVX parked next to a Model T.

A couple weeks ago I had ExoShield installed on my '97, to protect the windshield from rock chips, and it has worked very well. Had a rock kicked up later that day that would have surely done damage. It was a little pricey, but well worth it.

Wow, nice teeth! Is there no way to run a smaller intercooler?

So. Did anyone go to the 30th Anniversary meet?
Any photos? Comments? |
Re: What have you done to your SVX (or other Subaru) today?
I am working on picking up a set of 2015 STi wheels for my SVX with some fresh all-seasons. RX8s are looking a little tired and they need tires.
