Tom, you have been a pleasure to work with. I am glad that we got the cable issue sorted out. Hope this adapter will help you with diagnosing your idle problem.

Update. All converters will come with the proper cables to hook up to your pc. There will be no additional cost.

USB adapter will come with one 6ft male A to mini B cable

Serial adapter will come with one 6ft straight through male to female 9pin Dsub cable.

Hahaha, good idea! This way no one runs into Tom's problem... :o That sucked to hear, but good that he got it sorted.

Anyway, I'm without an adapter right at the moment, the mail didn't come. So perhaps on Monday I'll have an interface again, and will be able to continue with the work on Jdash.

If you were planning of issuing refund for those that had already made a purchase at 80 - please just donate mine to the network - if not, no worries.

Thanks for taking us another step forward in SVX knowledge.

Patrick, I will donate a few $ to the network per each customer that had purchased the converters without a cable. The cables only cost me $3 or $4 each so not a huge amount. I am not really making any profit from selling these, so I will put the other half of the refund into other upcoming services. Myself, as well as the rest of the network thank you for your selflessness.

Does this work just like the SSM you would buy for $$$$ with the cartridges? Does it pull the CEL codes for you? Can you reset the CEL with it?

This is not a Select Monitor. This is a Select Monitor interface. It is merely a means to connect your car, via the SM port, to your computer, via Serial or USB.

What you do from that point on depends on the software you use.

Hi All,
Just wanted to let everyone know that I have put together a few different versions of a SSM link Interface cable, for transmitting and receiving data to and from the ECU via a laptop computer. This Interface is good for reading ROM code from the ECU, TCU,and ACU. Its also used as a link for the VWRX software to act as a Subaru select monitor to read vital engine management parameter. Please follow link http://www.subaru-svx.net/forum/showthread.php?t=38685 for further info about related projects. Also, a big thanks to Phil and all other members for there continued effort on this project.

I have two different models that I would like to offer for sale to anyone interested in purchasing a premade setup. I am offering a serial converter, that will plug into the serial (com port) on your laptop, or PC without a usb port, and a usb converter, for people without a serial port on there PC. These device will work with any obd1 model Subaru with a standard SSM port and some obd2 with modifications. They have both been tested, and in most cases are not susceptible to the common "92 non communication issue".

Specs:

*Includes all components, and SSM adapter plug. (serial cable included)
*Built in status led for RX, and TX visual signal monitoring.
*No special configurations needed.
*256byte RX buffer memory, and 128byte Tx buffer memory for faster soother data flow.
*All Windows, Linux, Unix, and Mac operating systems are supported.

USB.
*$80.00
*Plug and play
*Includes all components, and SSM adapter plug. (usb cable included)
*Built in status led for RX, and TX visual signal monitoring.
*No special port configurations, or drivers are needed. Computer sees it as a true com port .
*256byte RX buffer memory, and 128byte Tx buffer memory for faster soother data flow.
*All Windows, Linux, Unix, and Mac operating systems are supported.

Any questions, please post here so all member may view them.
Thanks
Mike.
