Southwest SVX search

I'm needing an svx for college. I prefer it to be as stock and well maintained as possible, price range is 3k, willing to drive to neighboring states if needbe. AWD is a must, anything else is fine. I can't take one with anything blown, It has to be good and driveable right away, since I have so much time that I spend in my 240sx, I just need a daily driver. if it needs small things done to it (timing work, small amount of head work, tranny rebuild) yet still runs and drives decently, i may consider it.

any AWD svxes i'll at least take a look at.

i'm located in Arizona.

It sounds like you have too much money!?!

In case you haven't been reading this forum for very long, the general consensus seems to be that an SVX is not a very good college car. The maintanence bills alone car can double the purchase price of our cars in a year. A transmission rebuild can cost between $2000-4000. A new windshield costs about $1000.

There are a lot of other AWD Subarus out there that can be had for a good price and will be much more dependable through your college years. I'd suggest you start an SVX fund for after college.

Good luck with your search,
Dan

Sr240sx 04-08-2006 02:15 PM

I can do all kinds of work myself. and trust me, full coverage on glass with zero deductible means i dont have to worry about that. tranny rebuilds won't cost much, so long as I get some gaskets.

intelisevil 04-08-2006 09:30 PM

If you can rebuild SVX trannies and do other repair and mod work on SVXs, you could become the West Coast TomsSVX!

Where are you going to college?

Talk to Motorsport-SVX, he's in Tucson, he might be able to help you with your SVX search.

I'm in Casa Grande, but I'm going to Washington State. I'd need to get some time under the hood of an svx before I worked on anyone else's, as of now i'm not familiar with flat 6's.

intelisevil 04-10-2006 03:33 PM

I look forward to you finding a suitable car and getting sufficient time under the hood!

There are lots of owners in Washington and Oregon who could use a good SVX mechanic.

Motorsport-SVX 04-11-2006 12:34 AM

Sr240sx 04-12-2006 04:05 AM

Sr240sx 04-12-2006 11:10 AM

FrancesTheMute 04-12-2006 01:38 PM

Not to hi-jack the thread, but would you be willing to deliver/meet halfway?

Motorsport-SVX 04-12-2006 02:40 PM

shipping to Ca cant be that much

Price are always negotiable , well usually :)

Sr240sx 04-13-2006 04:12 AM

Is there any time in which I could see/test drive the thing?

and when might it be available, i knocked my 24 out of commission today (bad road conditions led to a bad drift- need a new rear wheel, lower control arm, brake rotor, and steering rack.)

bad road condition or inexperienced driving ? (haha j/k)
Id have to tear it away from my mom, not sure when Ill
be able to do that, but I can keep you posted

Sr240sx 04-13-2006 02:56 PM

alrighty- please as soon as possible.

also- does it have a sunroof, and what are all the options on it?

and it was bad road conditions. there was this near-invisible silt like patch on the road that made my front wheels lose traction on an otherwise perfect drift...

take some time and read thru here

http://www.cars101.com/

Sr240sx 04-13-2006 06:18 PM

alrighty (reading) but i meant was "what optional extras does it have"

(finished reading) does the touring package include all the extras listed with the package? or are some of them "options" with the kit?

I'd like to see it sometime this weekend if you can tear it away from your mother at all :-)

My first post says Bone stock LSi model

not to be an ass, but I really hate repeating myself
my time is limited as it is.
Ill see if I can get it away from her this weekend

Sr240sx 04-13-2006 07:58 PM

Lsi model is an LS with touring package, making it the LSL, correct? subaru terminology is difficult to learn >_>

"1992 SVX Information
The first year for the SVX. 2 models are available. Base LS and LS with Touring Option called the LS-L model"

still learning, sorry! sofar, all i read that was an option for an LSL was a rear deck spoiler (not on the car) and an engine block heater. that seems odd to me, since cars usually have more than two options. I'm just doing a little homework :-)

Its good, you are finding more out about these cars
They came loaded, and very loaded haha.

This car has pretty much everything as you mention
but the rear wing and of course no block heater being
its been an Az car most its life :)

You are correct though, its an LSL
leather, sunroof etc....

Sr240sx 04-13-2006 10:22 PM

if you consider that hood "baked" you haven't seen our '81 rx-7, hehe

i'm really interested in it, tranquilize your mother and let me drive it this weekend :-D

Sr240sx 04-18-2006 11:07 AM

Any news on availability for a test drive?

Motorsport-SVX 04-18-2006 10:05 PM

as soon as her Mark VIII gets the trans in it
and back on the road, it will be avail
until then its really too hard to get her to release
it with her and my schedule.
Ill keep in touch :)

Motorsport-SVX 04-26-2006 01:29 AM

my computer is down at work so I cant
check it during the day, but I may have that
car or ANOTHER one ready to sell and drive
this Friday.

Dayle

Motorsport-SVX 04-26-2006 07:25 PM

Sr240sx 05-05-2006 12:42 AM

Sr240sx 05-05-2006 02:09 PM

Tell her i'll give her my motorcycle for a week whilst I test her car out ;-)

also- could you possibly hold onto it for a few weeks, i need to draw some of the funds for an svx to fix my 240, and it'll take a couple weeks or so to replenish them :-P
