You aren't going to believe this...the guy lived and expected to recover@!
It happened just down the street from where I live....I live on the road the overpass is on. I awoke to the noise of the careflight. I went down to see parts EVERYWHERE! Could not figure out what caused it at the time until I saw the footage. Imagine passing a cop at above a 100mph!! In morning rush hour no less.

It is amazing that the guy is still alive! At least no one else was involved.

i think he's F.T.D. (fixin' to die). A modern vehicle would be hard pressed to protect the occupant(s) in that type of crash, let alone a 20 y/o vehicle.

Re: You aren't going to believe this...the guy lived and expected to recover@!
I can't belive he survived at all, I mean look at the airtime he got, and the overall impact... just... wow.

Re: You aren't going to believe this...the guy lived and expected to recover@!
It's tough to see with the cloud of dirt, but it looks like the car had already rotated almost 180 degrees when it reached the bridge. It may have only hit there with a glancing blow. Look at how small the impact scar is on the bridge post (don't go by the end of the clip -- that's showing the opposite side). Had the car hit head-on, he would have definitely been DRT.
The trooper said the driver was ejected! I wonder if he was helped by landing in the grass. |

Sorry, I can't help but laugh.
Black Fire-bird (K.I.T.T.) was travelling over 100mph (Super Pursuit Mode) when the driver (Michael Knight) unwittingly launches the car (Turbo Boost) into an overpass! This is just soooo freaking Hollywood!! |

We can only hope Davis Hasselhoff's current car has no such aversions to instant, violent obliteration  |

Alright I'll be the one to say it.... THAT WAS SO COOL!

Re: You aren't going to believe this...the guy lived and expected to recover@!
That's a pretty bad crash, I hope he survives.
Looks like it rotated to the Passengers front when it made contact, and then broke up. He almost caught the vehicle on the brakes too, so very lucky nobody else got it. |
Re: You aren't going to believe this...the guy lived and expected to recover@!
If it was a Toyota he could blame the floor mats or the brakes!

Re: You aren't going to believe this...the guy lived and expected to recover@!

The news today says that he was released from custody 20 minutes before the crash.
But that's the news, and who knows what twist they put on that one. |

Has anyone figured out why he even went off the road? There doesn't seem to be any reason for him to steer onto the grass like that... or maybe he saw the cop at the last moment and hit the brakes hard and ... fell asleep?

That coupled with the fact that you have a 19 year old with limited experience {a fact, not a dig} in a high performance vehicle = bad outcome. |

Looks to me like he was pulling a grass pass, noticing the cop scared him and he made an error and went off road.

How is this thread SVX related?

Re: You aren't going to believe this...the guy lived and expected to recover@!
I would have been more scared to fly through the air then of the cop!
