What have you done to your SVX (or other Subaru) today?

Copying another thread somewhere, figure it's a way to keep posting up and get an idea of what's going on with everyone.

I haven't done anything today to the car per se, but I ordered some rear strut mounts.
Should check the tire pressure later..

Re: What have you done to your SVX (or other Subaru) today?

About a month after unintentionally discovering that my alt. was putting out very low voltage, I got a battery & brake light yesterday. This is my outback and the alt. is a $100 Autozone with lifetime warranty. Dealer wanted $87 for a 2 year and Autozone wanted $130, they met me around the middle. I was going to go with Maniac but I'm loyal to Autozone and their convenience.

Checked my PCV valve. Took about 5 minutes. Seems fine. (Poop, I need to investigate more)

19mm wrench fits fine. Fit, turn, spin, repeat. Leave the hose on. Use needle nose pliers to pull it high enough so that it can be grabbed and removed from the hose with a channel-lock or something.

---
update:

I dunno what to call this, but I broke the **** out of it trying to get the PCV hose off.

These hoses are hard as rocks and really do not like to move.

I'm pretty damn sure I'm leaking oil from here.

---
Yep, short fat hose was cracking up the side on the dark half.

I had my rear strut mounts replaced today.

Pics: new vs. old.

One was not as bad as I imagined, while the other was much much worse.

Listened to the window make some unhappy noises on it's way up.
I suspect it either jumped the pulley or the sleeve lock reg. wants to self destruct again. I just hope I don't open it up and find the cable all crossed and kinked.

I think Christine is jealous that I put synthetic blend in the outback and all she got was the dino oil.

Re: What have you done to your SVX (or other Subaru) today?

Since last Friday I have not been as productive as I was VERY sick all week, but, here goes;
Last Friday I met John Hoffman in Hagerstown to fix an annoying anti-rattle clip squeal, and we continued onto New York to buy and save a very clean 96 Polo with 98k.
The prolonged return trip home took untill 5:29AM Saturday...
Saturday I delivered a completed project SuperCharged Corvette to it's rightful owner, (and the Vette developed an unrelated oil leak at the untouched intake manifold on the way home.)
Sunday I met Kevin and Keith from Va with their two SVXi, swapped out a custom exhaust system and diagnosed some weird noises.
Monday I set Christine's spoiler back 1.5", and Ashley fixed a rust hole, and did a complete stock repaint.
Was VERY, VERY sick with a sore throat and ear ache, all week and only did home stuff, new water heater, vacuumed, dishes, you know.
Swapped out Sean486 bad 4EAT with a fresh 4.44.
Shipped out some HD handling stuff, finally felling better,
Work begins tomorrow!
Oh yea, also got a title for the clean 98k Pearlie that I got from NJ last fall, AND finally titled and got a plate for my Cammo 3/4 ton ex-Army Suburban.
The Suburban is soon to have a Jet Tech Supercharger, Hi Rise manifold, long tube Ceramic headers.
The parts are here, just need to install.

Neat, let us know how the lightweight flywheel feels on the EG33. That's the route I'm going to go next time around.

Re: What have you done to your SVX (or other Subaru) today?

Will do. Found in on the Seattle craigslist for $75. ACT XACT unit that's supposedly 14.1lbs from the quick search. Still need to grab a stocker from a GC8 Impy in a wrecking yard for a comparo. Dunno the weight on that one.

A fellow Mech. Engineering classmate picked it on since he goes home to Renton on the weekends.

Re: What have you done to your SVX (or other Subaru) today?

My wife was using it for a driving lesson for my daughter and it blew the low pressure power steering line. Fortunately the one on my parts car was still good, it sure was a lot easier to take it off the car that does not have a transmission but I got it swapped over so I can still drive it to work tomorrow
