Brake-Fluid Resistant Sealant? (non-SVX q.)
This is not an SVX question, but my mom's Rover Sterling is leaking brake fluid slightly from the seals where the reservoir attaches to the master cylinder. Replacement seals are not available since Sterling fled the US market in 1991.
The seals are illustrated in the FSM I have, and they're not a common shape, so matching them up with something similar is probably out, too. I thought I could cure the leak by pulling the reservoir off, cleaning everything well, and reassembling with the old seals in place coated with some variety of RTV Silicone or other sealant that was brake-fluid resistant. Any recommendations? |
