Arrow and we thought the 4EAT was expensive

I was at the Infiniti dealer (also Audi, Porsche, Land Rover) having some minor work performed on the G35 and saw a technicain wrestling with an Audi A4 quattro automatic transmission. I asked the service writer what the job was going to cost and I was informed that the Audi trans was almost $7K PLUS $1200 for installation!!!!

It was being covered under warranty!

yeah, so what else is new??

When I first called my local Subaru dealer about my transmission woes, I was quoted $6800 for a factory reman transmission and $1200 for removal and replacement!!

UNBELIEVABLE!!!!!

That may rate as the highest estimate on a transmission replacement from a Subaru dealer that I've heard about. Yikes. Eight grand...

I still think that someone could start a fair business on the side by installing 5-speeds in place of dying automatics. Money for the installer....cheaper for the owner. Just a thought....Don
