EXHAUST options
I would like to replace the one piece pipe and resonator that runs from the Catalytic Converter back to the Muffler on My 96 SVX LSi. It seems to me that a custom exhaust could be fabricated with a straight pipe bent to fit. Would this cause excess emissions, resonance, or unacceptable noise?
NYS DOT has adopted the California emission standards and the OEM part is more than $400 bucks. One local Muffler shop I contacted has concluded that ONLY the OEM pipes can be used. Your personal experience, thoughts and suggestions about custom exhaust systems for the SVX are solicited.

Re: EXHAUST options
in that case, why not stick with OEM? small price to pay to keep the car on the road.

Re: EXHAUST options
If you just delete the resonator it will have no affect on emissions. That's the cats job.
My '92 has a straight pipe with no resonator and it sounds great. No droning or adverse noises. |

Re: EXHAUST options
Had mine that was shot removed and replaced with a strait pipe:
Passed CT emissions no issue, it just looks like a cat, its not actually an emission part. Last edited by Lookin4SVX; 03-02-2016 at 12:03 AM. |
