Re: What have you done to your SVX (or other Subaru) today?

I drove my JDM SVX this week and confirmed the coolant is bled properly.

I need to swap the PS pump as it is noisy, with a spare I have on hand. I already rebuilt the one on the car so I'm unsure what the issue is, but I'll dig into it at some point soon.

My aim is to drive the SVX about 750 miles down to Monterey Car Week in the near future.

Sounds good.

The noise is likely to occur when the vanes inside the PS pump are worn.
Brand new vane units are no longer available, but additives may be used to improve the condition.

These additives are not meant to stop leaks, but to provide some sort of coating to the metal surfaces to make them quieter and smoother. This one is made in Japan, but there may be something similar in your country.

Re: What have you done to your SVX (or other Subaru) today?

Yesterday was summer vacation and a friend came to visit me. I replaced the steering rack of my friend's Legacy 3.0R H6 MT with a quick type. We adjusted the toe and repaired the cracked air intake chamber by plastic welding.

Thanks for the tip! I will try something like this.

At first I thought about sending it, but apparently flammable liquids can't be sent through the mail. Try looking for something similar.

SVX (and jacket) are prepped and ready for Radwood PNW. Excited to take the SVX on a 4 hour roadtrip. Hopefully all goes smoothly!

Re: What have you done to your SVX (or other Subaru) today?

Today I made some modifications to remove the speed restriction on the JDM cruise control controller that Mr. Mike sent back to me.

It is working well and I can now set the speed up to 225Km/h.

Re: What have you done to your SVX (or other Subaru) today?

Showed the 91 SVX at Radwood PNW. This was the longest drive I've taken in the SVX, and the first show I've been to with this car.

Despite the rain, we had a good turnout. Many attendees asked questions about the SVX and were excited to see the car.

It has a Japanese license plate. Gunma is where SUBARU's headquarters are. Did you buy it somewhere? BTW, the 7 number is for narrow body. The SVX has a wide body so it should be a 3 number.

Thanks for pointing that out! The previous owner bought the plate as a novelty so I affixed it for the show only.

Re: What have you done to your SVX (or other Subaru) today?

FYI, in Japan, license plates are loaned to you while the car is registered and someone continue to pay car taxes, but no one cannot actually own them. When you deregister your car, the license plates must be returned to the prefecture.

Therefore, it is illegal to sell real, non-fake license plates.

Only way to obtain a license plate that is no longer attached to vehicle is to submit a lost license plate report.

Stolen license plates are often used by criminals to evade surveillance cameras or to use stolen cars on public roads, so the sale and purchase of license plates is strictly regulated.

It is also strictly prohibited to create fake license plates with the same design as the real thing.

I don't think you'll be charged with a crime for having it in the US, but it doesn't hurt to know.

That jacket looks awesome!

P.S. I had a bra on the front of my 94 Legacy years ago. It ended up scratching up the paint as debris and dirt would find its way between the bra and the paint.

Re: What have you done to your SVX (or other Subaru) today?

I pulled the bra off as we approach the wet weather this fall. Exercised both SVXs this week. I plan to give them both a wash this weekend.
