Re: What have you done to your SVX (or other Subaru) today?
The cooler is built into the radiator. I just used a 3/8" piece of metal tube and clamped both lines to it. After driving it hard putting over 100 miles and about 3 hours of driving, the shifts stayed the same. I'm sure on a hot summer day it won't be happy and that's why I'll be getting a cooler for it.

Have a look at Jaguar Liquid Silver. That's what I painted my wheels.

The problem is the deep outer lip makes the silver look darker and duller in the shadows. Same with the sharp angles of the spokes. Our stock rims don't have such a deep profile and being more solid, reflect more light. With the duller outer rim, your focus is now on the center basket, which makes the wheel look smaller. Even duplicating the painted outer edge of the wheel with the same silver did not help to define it. Transwheel was going to try to machine the deep lip, but the tight curve at the base of the lip, where the mesh starts, was too small for their finest tool to fit in without risk of damage. Such a high positive offset (+55mm) for this kind of wheel is unheard of. When svxcess is happy, everyone is happy... Now to decide if I want the center hex cap to be aluminum plated or chromed (yes, they can do that to plastic) or leave them be. .

Re: What have you done to your SVX (or other Subaru) today?
Got my car back from the shop today, but only for the weekend...
My SVX decided to eat the right front tire from the inside, which is what started this adventure: New right front tire... 4 New struts and mounts. Front right axle. Power steering pump. Alignment. Engine mounts. Perrin Lightweight crank pulley. Had the PWR radiator dropped to make the PWR cap fit. QS component kevlar/teflon rod ends for nevin's rear swaybar. Oil change, front diff oil, coolant, & ATF for power steering. Has to go back Monday for some piece for the left front caliper, it jingles.. They say it has no effect on the driveability.. So I told them order the part. After having everything else fixed, this one last jingle is driving me crazy.. This only my second set of repairs I have had to do on the the car in the 3 years I have owned it. I am now into her for $3,200 in repairs total, not to bad at all for a 21 year old car. |

Re: What have you done to your SVX (or other Subaru) today?
Hope you're getting that one new tire "cut" to match the others. Otherwise, you're going to be in for more repairs.

I was wondering the same thing. So how do you cut a tire?

Re: What have you done to your SVX (or other Subaru) today?
My "old" tires are at 9/32 of the 10/32, Subaru specs say withing 2/32, so the new one did not need to be shaved.
It is my weekend car, take it out Friday and Saturday nights in the summer only. I don't think I have even 5000miles on them. Conn, if your tires have lost more than 2/32 thread depth, you order it from tire rack and have them shave the 1 tire down to match your tread depth. That is great! I'm over $18K so far, and that is all mechanical.

I did this today to my SVX:
Just rolled over to 200,000 miles and the mechanic says the engine is still solid. |
