Completely rebuilt my rear deck. Removed the material, disassembled the speaker grills, washed the rear deck material and the speaker material in the washing machine (it came out really well). Glued material to deck with spray adhesive. Cleaned and siliconed all vinyl and plastic pieces. Spray painted metal grills black. Disassembled, cleaned and tested my Ionizer.

Big job (Didn't really need doing).. But I had fun.

Bad LED's in the display when 'Off'..

I will replace it at some point when I can find a good one. Works fine when on.

Re: What have you done to your SVX (or other Subaru) today?

Changed the upper hose on a leaky steering rack with 4 clamps instead of 2, fresh new ATF fluid, adjusted my new exhaust system a little bit (was causing rattling), and sprayed the welds with heat resistance exhaust spray. Changed the left side booth for the steering rack. Need to keep my eye on it and see if the seals are leaking too in the next couple of days.

Next: Installing my electrically retractable mirrors and switch, along with replacing broken power window switches. Installing my leftover Nissan Nismo Horns

Next next: Wiring my homelink Nissan Z mirror inside the SVX (Yeah... I am driving the best of two words).

Next next next: Installing my JDM SVX steering wheel.

Next next next next............. next: never ending project

Can I ask why you picked those horns vs something else (such as Hella)? I am looking to replace the horns as well but haven't picked a set yet.

Re: What have you done to your SVX (or other Subaru) today?

Click on the link, you will reach the vendor. Wait until i install them and will let you know if they sound good or not.

Everything i am installing right now, I've had them since ages ago....

As for Hella, most of them are being manufactured in India now. Installed a set in my mom's Merc. They sound awkward a little bit.

I have a set of the last Hella Supertones that were made in Germany and they sound fine, do the job and are holding up extremely well. All Supertones are now made in India. Hella insists there is no difference in quality or sound.

However, newsvx installed a set of "freeway blasters" (or something like that) on his 97 and they definitely have a better and more serious sound. Maybe he can take photos or supply more information. They both fit into the factory location in front of the battery and look OEM.

I may take out my Hellas and go with these...

Re: What have you done to your SVX (or other Subaru) today?

Hmmm... yeah it figures. The difference between your car and mine is that yours is stock/OEM upgrades, mine has nothing to do anymore with stock. But those Nissans look awesome.

Another option for you John, OEM nissan Z horns look very much alike the OEM SVX horns and they sound very very good. Google them if you want.

Re: What have you done to your SVX (or other Subaru) today?

Had the random stalling going on for the last week especially while accelerating. Finally got the code 23 last night so put on my spare MAF sensor. Good to go. Having all this stock of spare parts on the garage shelves is awesome!!!

Re: What have you done to your SVX (or other Subaru) today?

I had to adjust the tension pulley for the accessory belt. It was sitting incorrectly in the slot. If you know what I'm talking about, then you know what a pita it is to do, especially when you remove the pulley and try to put it back on.

Re: What have you done to your SVX (or other Subaru) today?

Not today, but recently....

Yesterday, I spent $10.00 at the coin op car wash.. Actually got on my knees to hose the salt out from underneath her ( I have NEVER done that with any car I've ever owned ).. I feel so damn guilty every time I drive when the roads have been salted. Since new, it's never seen salt, and I wanted to keep it that way. But, my boy needed my WRX, so there wansn't much choice.

This following is a "cut and paste" .. I have every receipt since day one, but, since my mechanic is "cash friendly", I just keep a record of bucks spent.

97 SVX Files

29/11/13 Safety Check required one marker light bulb. Changed oil and filter. Added 1/8 bottle “Sea Foam” to engine oil ( noisy lifter ) Seepage of anti-freeze noted on right hand side head gasket. Added friction modifier to trans fluid. ( lazy 2/3 shift ) full four wheel alignment.
243,000
$200.00

05/12/13 CEL for #2 Knock sensor came back ( code previously cleared to check for repeat )
244,200

12/12/13 Re-set Brake band ¼ turn tighter / replaced trans in line filter / changed 4 litres Mobil1 Full Synthetic Trans fluid. Adjusted parking brakes. Replaced knock sensor.
244,400
$340.00

21/12/13 CEL came on ( -26 celsius ) code showed EGR. Cleared code to check for repeat...Did not return. Write it off as stoopid effin cold.
244,650
N/C

07/01/14
245,000 In extreme cold (-25c), getting very mild surging on light acceleration off idle. Goes away once temp gauge starts to move. Purchased OBD code reader as CEL was on again. Code for EGR was back. Cleared code and booked appt., to service EGR valve, tighten brake band and check TPS for .50 V and replace RH headlight pig tail.
$240.00 Code reader

10/01/14
245,100 Left car running after ice storm, all electrics on. Didn't drive anywhere. Did that twice, the third time, car died in driveway. Alternator can't keep up to demand on low idle. Regular battery will match for size, but doesn't show as applicable for SVX. Either
$150.00 and no warranty, or $299.00 for deep cycle and high cranking amps. Bought the high output.
$339.00

14/01/14 Raffi hooked up the meter wrong, and couldn't get a proper reading from the TPS, he did however, clean the throttle body and cleared the EGR valve passageways. replaced r/h headlight pig tail.
$240.00

24/01/14 Spoke tro Raffi re: stripping Steve's (from London) and keepin a few parts/.. He's good
to go on that.

27/01/14 “stop lamp out” showing on dash / installed new bulb.

$3.00
