Re: What have you done to your SVX (or other Subaru) today?

Finally got mine out of the driveway!

...with a flatbed...

She should be running sometime in the future, though.

Re: What have you done to your SVX (or other Subaru) today?

Collected it from my Hamish my friendly mechanic who did the following :

fitted the 15 min mod (courtesy of Surteess, thanks !),
replace RHS lower suspension swing arm which had a completely trashed bush,
fitted new Silla radiator.

My car drives much better now, I thought I had warped brake discs but it seems the flogged out suspension bush at the front was causing a lot of the shuddering & vibration problems. Lucky I have a parts car, as this was a $US200+ part (+shipping to NZ).

Hopefully the Silla radiator performs as promised.

Still need to eliminate the two check engine lights, intermittent idle problem, fit new alarm/remote start & fit QuickChange

Worked somemore on the CarPC

We have fiddled some more with the hardware and software to do our proof of concept test bed CarPC. Software Win7 32 bit, Ride Runner front end, DFX5.1 skin, Microsoft Streets and Trips and some utilities. Current hardware AMD miniITX passively cooled motherboard, touch screen from ebay, small powered USB hub, refurbed vehicle PC power supply (ebay) . Pending hardware USB physical volume control, newer USB GPS module, and noise canceling USB microphone. (USB seems to be a trend here).

We will move the hardware to the final case and power supply after we attach and prove out the remaining hardware in the test bed

Test bed photo and screen photo are attached (sorry the test bed photo is bad)

Just ordered some drilles/slotted rotors to do a WRX rotor upgrade to the front of the 99' forester and bought 4 new tires for the 98' forester.
Just need to get the SVX sold to fund the Forester now.

Yep, rust removal. It needs to go back in for a little more, but this was after 6 hours or so in the soup bucket: (left is before, right is after)

Have you ever tried Evaporust? I've used it on heavily rusted gas tanks and other pieces and it works VERY well and reusable.

Cool stuff! I would definitely use it on smaller parts like these, but at $35/gallon it would get really pricey for some of the bigger pieces. My electrolysis setup cost about $12 in all.

Re: What have you done to your SVX (or other Subaru) today?

well for the first time in quite a while it drove today (the svx) under its own 6 speed power. The swap is done just time to get the little things buttoned up and its ready for cruising.

a couple of pics, these do not have the center console back in, I didn't take any pics of it today.

I built a VTD transmission and installed it and a JDM power switch.

The SVX has a VTD as it's regular transmission doesn't it? 36/64 split.
