Maryland SVX meet? - Page 19

Great time today with the mini-Cumberland autocross / SVX meet. Many thanks to Tom and Diana for making it happen - at THEIR house!! Especially Diana - thanks for putting up with all of us, Diana!!

I hope everyone contributed some funds to the cause before leaving today / tonight. I know that Tom, Diana and Jerry bought a lot of stuff to feed everyone, and we all should chip in some to cover it.

Super, super time. I counted 15 SVXi there, but that includes all of the MANY that belong to the Tom and Diana family!!! Great company, great food and drink, AND able to watch the autocross - today Young Tom and RUFUS (in his "non-SVX") participated - Mike had a 50 sec run in his Porsche Boxer and Tom had a 51 sec run. Both competitive, but I do not know the final standings. Some interesting cars running there too!!

Thanks to all who came and made the meet happen - Rebecca as the initiator especially!!

On Saturday Jerry ran a 56sec without the supercharger but with the power steering (yes, the belts blew and he did 2 runs without anything (including the alternator) the car started to die right before the third run)

GREAT TIME,

When sitting in traffic on the way back, and I mean literally sitting... a guy in an SUV goes: "Hey did you get those windows custom made?"

Well, I just got home right about...now.
One hell of a day(s)...got 4 hours of sleep friday night, worke a double saturday night, and headed out to philly around 12:30 AM. Luckily by then Y.Tom and Mike had done me a favor and replaced my front axles. We had originally planned on hitting the road at 2:30, which is right around when I got to AB's house. Unfourtunantly, Mike was sound asleep and cost us a bit of road time (But don't worry, Tom made it up fast)

We arrived at the meet at around 7:30 AM....just in time for Young Tom to give a wake up call via his custom track use only dual exhaust

All in all, had ALOT of fun this weekend.Many funny one liners were uttered. Met a few people Ive been reading about for a while now, and saw some familiar faces as well.

Anyway, big thanks again to both Tom's, Dianna, Mike, and Rebecca (Even though you didnt bring cake

)

I just walked in and Im walking back out to work.

I had a great time yesterday and saw a few familiar faces and met some new ones as well. Thank you to everyone who made it happen. I have a sizeable amount of photos which I would like to post, but I will get to that later on this evening.

We are definitely going to do this again sometime. Heck, we have enough stuff left to do it again this weekend!

But I don't think THAT's going to happen! I had to take off work today to "straighten up" (the house, deck and yard -- Tom's working on the garage

).

Tom,

I noticed you put "straighten up" in quotes. That's O.K., you can use your native "Redd up"!

It was a great time! Thanks for hosting such an impressive bash! (That goes for Diana too.) The applause was nice

... and - like my showing up - unexpected. Since I'd only ever actually met 2 or 3 of the clappers before, I'm guessing everyone got an ovation on their arrival.

It was nice to finally meet members I'd only known online, especially Eric, who I've probably PMed more than anyone else on the Network. Just wish I'd've come earlier. Then I could have met more of them.

And, Rebecca, thank you again for starting this meet, and for changing the location to Tom & Diana's. That shorter distance is one of the factors that convinced me to come, even if I still left the decision up to the last minute.

Thanks for hosting the meet I had GREAT time. So good to see SVXers I have known for awhile and to meet members I've only known on the Network. I don't think you could find a better group of people anywhere. Looking forward to the next one!

That explains the good grammer and spelling.

I had a great time. I hit some traffic on the way home in Hagerstown. I took a back road and ended up using that new mod.

BTW Tom once I got on a road I knew...I notice a difference now.

I ended up staying awake all night because my dog had puppies. Eight puppies..several hours.

I'm still sobering up from my birthday bash...so excuse the bad typing. I will get some pictures up soon. I'm just thankful to have the internet back. Stupid lightening.

Thank you all for coming. I'm sure I will be arranging another SVX meet in the future.
