They are trying to keep from changing with the times. The royalties on the music are pennies compared to the money they make from duplicating, distributing, and selling physical products.

While that doesn't give people the right to rip them off, bands that try to sell their music directly for download are snubbed by their own labels and pressured into physical distribution only makes you wonder who is blurring the line between right and wrong?

I'm not arguing with you any more about this because we agree completely - we're just still typing for some stupid reason.

Well, you might be drunk - that might be the reason. Your typing is a little slurred.

Anyway, you one quote, 'They are trying to keep from changing with the times,' hits it right on the head. If they eventually change, they'll live to fight another day. If not, then this will be their death rattle - no matter how vigorously they defend their right to not change.

I know that plenty of Christmas carols are public domain. My point was that this cartoon makes it seem like any use of music will get you jail time. It's media sensationalism, and while I know that's what they're best at, when it only serves to misinform people it pisses me off.
Apparently satire is lost on some people.

Arguing gives me an opportunity to use Google for research and I really love Google much more than you do

If you ever want a scare, read some of the proposed legislation at the Government Printing Office's Website:

And we elected these nutballs!!

I love Google so much - only do I have Google bookmarked, I actually have an entire bookmark folder for Google. That way each component of Google has its own bookmark.

Why does everyone rave so much about ? Isn't it just another search engine?

MPAA with DeCSS and RIAA with current issues are not looking at the industry and longterm benifits of technology, but are short sighted and are only looking at what they can gain at the moment. Technology is a double edged blade. I have a ton of MP3 and for MOST of them, I have CDs that I own. Althought not many people behave the same way I do, I normally download whatever to try it out and if I find it useful, I go out and buy it. It goes for music, movies and software. The issue with RIAA is that they are doing this for the wrong cause. Period. MPAA is chaseing down the wrong people. Like I said before, I can write a book if I have to go into details on this so I will stop here.

L

ps. Does anyone want a copy of DeCSS?
