1. I understand taht... SVX came with auto.. only? But I see some guys here that have manual trannys. Was it a swap? How much did it cost? Is it worth it? I've always had manual cars.
I called a few places here ... that does those things.. and they said they wont do manual gear swaps from automatics.

2. I love the rear.. the side.. the interior.. of the SVX.. but.. sorry.. I just cant stand the front end of the car. especially the lights... it just.. doesnt.. go.. so.. i was thinking... would you guys buy a front end conversion if it was available?

This is what im thinking about....
Since.. putting in .. lets say.. a '05 Acura TL lights on it ... is just.. "not right" ... how about.. making it flat.. get rid of the original lights... put in.. lets say.. a Nissan 240 SX .. "flip lights" ...

so.. you will have.. the light conversion... to flip.. and.. hood (to fit the flip lights).. and a new bumper design (nice and clean OEM style) ...

If it was possible.. would you guys get it? Priced around maybe.. $1500 for the whole conversion?

I work with 3i , a new polyfibreglass design / manufacuturer, and if i can get at least about 10-20 interested buyers here.. i can get them to spend the bucks and make these.

What do you think guys? I'll post a .. photochopped pic if i can.

Check out The motorsports SVX store. It has parts (including the Manual conversion kit and front bumpers) it's at www.motorsportswarehouse.com

I also don't agree with going to the flip lights. They are out of style. Cars that have lost flip lights:

- Corvette
- NSX
- Stealth/3000GT
- Miata

Are there even any cars left with them?

apparently you've never lifted the hood of an SVX - there is NO WAY you will fit flip-up lights and the motors that power them anywhere under the hood. there just isn't room.

what goes around...

Be patient. The current bug-eyed look will fade from fashion by and by, and the SVX headlights will again be high style.

I suppose you are forgetting the RX-7 from the pop-up headlight list. As well as alot of nissans.

I'm waiting for good old sealed beams to be back in vogue.
Replaced for ten bucks & five minutes of screwdriver time.

Pop-ups are a butt pain. Now that I'm using the Nissan 240SX as the daily beater, I can't flash to signal "OK to merge" etc.

Ron (nice headlights on women create pop-ups too).

Yeah, really... a cheap, disposable, self-contained bulb with lens. No wonder automakers abandoned that goofy idea.

The last car I can think of to have flip up lights was the Firebird....and they just canned the whole car.

I think the best way to update the SVX nose is to get the clear corners, clear head light conversion, and I guess a different grill. Not to mention the euro bumber.

There are a couple of diffent ways doing the manule swap, and cost that vary from about $1000, to well over $5000

I chose the cheap way, i got a trannie and rear end from a 1 gen 91 legacy. I also got a satge 2 spec clutch, and the small car do it your self kit. This trannie cable operated and is fairly stright forward procedure. Total was just under $1000

Theres the newer 5spd that hydralicly operated, this is basicly the same swap, but it uses a newer trannie that might be stronger. There is more work to install this becasue you have to relocate your brake master cylinder. This one can cost at the low end at around $1700

Then theres the 6spd trannie which only one person has done, that i know of bulit proof trannie, but you have to shift alot becasue of the extremly close gear ratios. Cost lucky if you could get it done for under $5000, becasue the trannie only a couple of years old and highly desiarble. Dont know how hard it is to intstall, may need to get a r180 rear end and hubs to match, if you have a us spec SVX.

I really like my SVX with the 5spd its quick off the line now and has made the car to me alot more fun to drive. I bought my SVX with out reverse so a trannie swap had to come soon and i always wanted a manule SVX so i may be biased.
