Update on this fiasco! OK, I took off the black plastic pieces and started using Zephyr aluminum polish on the manifold (because zephyr is all I had here yesterday) After about 4 hours of scrubbing, I am still not completely happy but it looks better. I ve got bruises on my knees from the bumper and my back is sore as crap from leaning over like that but its on its way back where its supposed to be! Im going to use mothers aluminum polish tomorrow at work to see if that works any better.
For the black pieces, they were all spotted up bad with acid splash, they looked HORRIBLE, and I had scrubbed them up and was getting ready to paint them black again. One of the guys at work said to let him try to clean them, he used a gritty hand cleaner that we use at work made by ZEP and rubbed them right out back to black again! I would have never thought this could work but it did! Well thanks for all your help, I would like to add a pic, BUT I dont know how yet!

I am actually thinking right now that painting the center piece a glossy black would look prety swift.
-- To post pictures: Take them with your camera, Upload them to your computer- Resize the ones you don't need to be huge or extremely detailed- Use the "Manage Locker" link in the top right corner of this page to add the pics to your on-site pic storage thingy OR you can use photobucket, Imageshack, or whatever.- Find the URL (address) of your stored picture, copy it, in post mode hit the yellow button that looks like a mountain and sunset and in the box that appears paste your image URL.- Voila- ???- Profit-

Keep the picture small enough to fit within the page - around 600 X 800 so they will not take up too much room. If you have high resolution and need them shrunk, let us know and someone can do it for you.

The Acid Game
I did the same thing your hubby did once o my original SVX. I pretty much sprayed mag cleaner over the engine bay hahahahaha. All the black pieces spotted white like you mentioned (took a bit to clean back). But it made the difficult to reach sections of the engine shine soooooo beautiful. The little nooks and crannys you can't reach withou removing parts. Just keep on a buffing and you'll be fine

I like how you actually laugh at yourself for doing that! I am still NOT LAUGHING! It has made it really hard for the parts that are supposed to shine to do so but I am still polishing on it. (I am driving the explorer yeah my other car is a FORD tomorrow, I feel guilty because I havent sat my a$$ in the seat of it since I bought my SVX 3 weeks ago! ) so the engine will be cool and I can work on it before dark!

Well..... almost final polishing pic.

Hey can I use your 12 for a screen saver? I was showing it to the guy at work (who has the only other one in town) and another man asked if that was our family portrait, if our cars got together and had kids! Seriously though, I love that pic!
