1) Would it not be sensible to have the same specs (meaning width) as the OEM bar?2) How difficult would it be to bend Nevin's bar? And how?

Ray
I just measured a factory stock Subaru rear anti-sway bar for length.
The bar with factory bushings is 47,1/2".
If you include the U-ends from the factory end links it now totals 48", not counting the bolt heads or nuts!
The NEVIN BAR is NOT THE PROBLEM!

The original links are 144MM, center to center,
the aftermarket stock end links that I used from something have a center to center of 160MM.
The adjustable links that Nevin provided can be adjusted down to about
147MM.
SOOO, maybe the solution is the teflon adjustable links for the quieter ride, adjusted to the minimum length.

Thoughts?

Re: Bontrager Works 22mm rear sway bar kit

OT,

Your solution seems reasonable but perhaps bending the bar in at both ends elimanates the problem to begin with? This solution assumes one can bend Nevin's bar without harm which I don't know if this is possible???????

But whose is this? I found this on my computer.
Looks like a problem but can't figure it out from the photo. Looks like the end link bolt and the banjo bolt are almost touching.

John, I'm thinking that it MIGHT be Geoff's picture;

This would probably work, but it would cost no more to have the new (Future) bars bent a little further to gain clearance, say 47" out to out, or even 46 1/2" for some extra clearance....I see nothing that being a little less would be an issue with.

Hi everyone! I thought I would post my results on these boots. After installing them and testing them for about a week, I can report that my rattles are 75% gone. Driving down the highway the endlinks are now quiet where before they would rattle. The only surfaces that still cause the endlinks to rattle are large bumps or slow, undulating roads. The nice thing that I have found about these boots is that, once they are filled with grease, they effectively dampen the sound generated by the rattling. So, even if the parts do rattle, the noise is quiet and tolerable. Here is a picture of what they look like installed:

I would like to say I still have not heard any noise from the endlinks, those teflon coated ones seem to work for me.

I checked the clearance on my rsb at the pumpkin carve meet and I have plenty of space and am in no risk of hitting anything connected to the rear brakes.

Re: Bontrager Works 22mm rear sway bar kit

The magic number I've given the shop (as far as width is concerned) is 47 3/4". That's what I measured my stock bar at for width, so I just went from there. So, some are a little less than that and some are quite a bit less. Really, the problem with making them the way we do is that it's kinda hard to get them all exactly identical, but they are all measured to be under the known "safe" clearance, so that's been good enough for me, knowing that the endlink was beefy enough and had plenty of clearance and travel. Also, you should all know that nearly every bar sold (minus a couple special order units) has been test fit on my own car so far to make sure it will work just fine. So far NONE have had clearance issues. I am very picky with the shop and have returned quite a few to them for not working right.

I'll be exploring those boots though, as that seems like it would be an excellent addition. I've had no issues with the endlinks I'm including as far as clearance or strength is concerned, only noise issues, which these may help lessen/resolve.

For those who are wondering what's going on, yes your swaybar may be making some clacking noises (at the endlinks) if it sees lots of wear. The links work GREAT, but they're really for race applications and not for eveyrday use. So, they are strong as anything and don't give at all, but just make some clatter, which is admittedly embarrasing (for me to have sold it to you all) and annoying to the user. So far I haven't found an alternative that fits the bill but won't raise the price any more. I know for what you're getting it seems like the price is high enough and I don't want to have to jack it up any higher for something that I don't know works great. The next batch could easily come with a set of the "boots" to help with noise and lube issues.

So far, clearance has not been a problem until someone helping me try to fix the problem put on a set of links on that I did not originally mean to be installed. So, none of you should be worrying about clearance and/or breaking things. If any of you HAVE had problems, I would love to make it right for you if something has gone wrong. nevinbontrager@gmail.com is the best way to get ahold of me, as I can keep records more easily if I need to.\

I hope this helps clear anything up for people.

Re: Bontrager Works 22mm rear sway bar kit

OT and I just took delivery of a complete set of 3/8" x 24 Chromoly Teflon/ Kevlar rod ends for Nevin's swaybar. They have a load rating 9,544 lbs. They come from qscomponents

Two ends per side (LH and RH threads) These should completely quiet down the swaybar rattle at about $37.00 a set of 4.

Will report back soon.

hey guys,

I might be late in this, but I just took the measurement off the bar that I received from Nevin. It turned out to be 119.7cm or around 47.12 inches.

Check the attached pictures...

Yes they do. A LH and RH link for each side so you can adjust the length of the end links.

However, we have determined than tightening them to the lowest position seems to be the safest to avoid possible contact with brake components.

Re: Bontrager Works 22mm rear sway bar kit

Just so you guys know, I have no problem with you ordering these parts directly from my supplier, qscomponents. There's no sense in me buying them and marking them up and reselling to you. Also, the best solution for the endlinkl with the qs parts is very simple. Shorter endlinks. The bars coming out now will only have a 5'' link instead of the 6'' as previous.
