Re: The plan

They are silver. Did you start wrapping parts with the 3m film?

Re: The plan

Cool, I like the silver ones. I bet the dark grey ones would look great on a black car though. Glad you didn't get the gold ones that are so common.

I got the film but I didn't start to wrap yet. I pulled most of the interior of the parts car though (breaking just a couple clips, so I'll have to be real careful when I do it for real). That stuff is really nice, but I don't think it's right for the roof of my blue car (also 48"x48" is just a bit too small). Looks like it'll be painted black eventually instead.

Still trying to decide on the tips... I figure out eventually.

Plan is to mock it up and tack together. Then take it to be fitted professionally. Since I cant weld.....yet!

07 STi BBS wheels found locally.

Next is OEM strut mounts, and new struts followed by an alignment.

Then maybe I'll fix the antenna, trunk struts and leaky cam seals.... *sigh*
Very nice, as I said if I had to do it again 2.5 would be the way to go, and an X pipe. I can tell you it will be slightly throatier then mine because of the larger diameter.

Oh and as to tips I like these they are not what I have on now but I may put them on at some point

Re: The plan

The Flowmaster kit comes with an H-pipe. It will have to do! It will take me forever to find some tips I like. *sigh* I may just use some 4th gen f-body tips since the look just like the stock ones.

Re: The plan

FYI, and "H" pipe or X pipe on an SVX is completely useless due to the exhaust gas phase.

Re: The plan

Without getting into a debate, I disagree. I'd never call either "useless".

YMMV

Re: The plan

Well technically I don't have it yet... UPS does. TBH I am curious what difference either will make on how it sounds. I have always found X-pipes to give a more "exotic" sound where an H-pipe seems to remove a bit of the higher frequencies. I know my '04 GTO sounded amazing when I installed an X-pipe on the stock exhaust. Damn I miss that car. Meh, I am so stupid when it comes to selling my cars...

I am going to try and weld the exhaust myself... how hard can it be? Doesn't have to be pretty! Now I just need to order a few more tools. I wonder if Northern or Harbor Freight sells one of those stepped exhaust expanders I saw a guy use at a muffler shop a long long time ago? Think of a stepped drill bit but...well.. its big and you whack it with a hammer! It expands the pipe just enough to slip them together.

Re: The plan

The reason why the SVX doesn't need one, is because the cylinders fire in a 180 degree phase from each other. A boxer 6 is very unlike any other type of engine, whether it be an inline, V style, or boxer engine other than a boxer 6.

Now, it may give a different sound, I won't debate that, but as far as evacuating exhaust gases, it won't have an effect. That is the main reason an H or X pipe is needed on other engines.

I will say I would like to hear the final result

Re: The plan

You had a GTO? I've been wanting one of those for a while now.

Re: The plan

That is a... severely nice ride. Highly underrated and under recognized car.
