Thanks BradT, were there any actual photos? That sketch looks a bit like the new Nissan 350Z

the concept subaru looks somewhat like the new toyota celica. radical designs like this one dont often make it to production, but it seems the trend nowadays is to sacrifice good looks for the sore thumb effect (as the honda element/pontiac vibe crowd asks "will it come in yellow?"). i for one think it's a bit too edgy.

Significant Technical Input
I think the reason anyone would buy a Honda Element is that it makes them feel safe. It looks like a miniature armored car, without the allure of having a ton of money inside.

Are people so desperate for unique styling that they'll resort to buying butt-ugly Aztecs, Elements, RX8s, Echoes, etc.? Personally, I'd ride the bus first.

Pete, that was the only drawing released of the car -- no photos.

I'll reserve judgement on the design until the car itself is unveiled and we can see it from all angles.

And who knows if it will go into production? There's a good chance it will, though ... regardless of its looks.

Question

I sure wish Beav would come out of his shell....

....you just never know what he REALLY thinks about things!

Update

According to FHI's homepage the new Subaru coupe at the Geneva Motor Show has a twin turbo 3000cc flat 6, with over 400ps, a 5-speed auto, glass roof, AWD and seating for 4 adults!

Here's the link but it is in Japanese;

Ok, so it's been done to death here already, but here is the story from my "other" favourite motoring web group.

http://www.pistonheads.com/news/arti...p?storyId=6356

Not sure I agree with the comment about previous Subaru styling being "utilitarian" though.......

Phil.

I think that car is ugly. It does not have nice lines at all. It looks like an Audi TT with a bad nose job.

The front bumper is going to need some big air sucking holes to cool off that 400 hp engine.

400lbs/400hp 3.0 H6 Twin Turbo. What's not to like? 5EAT + VTD with a 35/65 torque split! Where do I go put my deposit on one?

Needs a little work on the windows, and the grille looks too much like an A/R -- go figure.
