On my last two tanks I pulled 20.36 and 20.53mpg city.

Interestingly, I thought I had quite a few more spats of angry driving on the latter tank, so this result is surprising.
Aside from the angry bits I've essentially been hypermiling, and I think I can pull 21.

Just for curiosity's sake I've uploaded last months gas stats.

Re: What have you done to your SVX (or other Subaru) today?

Not just today...but the last month I've:
Replaced water pump/timing belt
Tried to fix the shift lock switch (no success yet)
Re-wired crank position sensor
Alt wire mod (some problems with the alternator plug still exist)
Cleaned MAF and checked the sensor wires
Cleaned engine. Cleared 2 of three engine codes
Thinks I've noticed:
Things are brittle on this old engine. Time to check wires/hoses and connectors.
It's 20 years old for god's sake!

Re: What have you done to your SVX (or other Subaru) today?

Put some permatex muffler and tailpipe sealant in the gap between the flanges of the pre-cat pipes and the main cat. No more roaring at 2500rpm. As soon as I get at least a left exhaust manifold, I am replacing all the exhaust gaskets and bolts from the engine to the back of the cat. I have 117k on this car now. It had about 84k when I bought it in January.. January 2011. I figure I can get anoyjer three years/150k out of it before mainenance gets too expensive.

New knock sensors came in.... since the Laguna is throwing codes for both, here they be.

Upgraded the alternator wiring and put a better power wire to the starter.

Re: What have you done to your SVX (or other Subaru) today?

I was motivated to do something SVX related tonight after work so I decided to stop by autozone and tackle the headlights I pulled for the Laguna, with plans to do a HID upgrade and the DOT approved (very light) tint/smoking. It'll look awesome once I get it done... and have ultimately decided to go this route instead of spending an insane amount of time and effort on the clear corners (regardless of how awesome I think they may turn out)... maybe I'll save those for the Mica Red in the future... would look stunning on that color I think, the clear corners.

Not sure why I went with the rain-x kit but jumped for it after seeing several of the other offerings. I know I should have written down what others have claimed to be so great in the past on this forum (maybe I lucked out and this is it?) but I think the results turned our amazing.... better than I would have expected. My fingers are bitter sore though after 2.5 hours and both headlights, center grill and corners are DONE!

What a difference....

(BEFORE, obviously )

Befores and Afters... mmm:

Of course, it's not to perfection... but it's pretty damn good... especially considering this is my first time at doing a headlight restore. I think my next 2 sets will turn out much better.... but these will look stunning in the Laguna once I'm done

I hate my cars having yellow teeth/eyes lol.... good riddance hideous headlights! Seriously though, they almost look like glass now! So nice... finally!

I spent about 15-20 minutes on each piece... basically 1.5 - 2 hours, including the time it takes to break for about 5 minutes to rest your hands and what have you. The side corners didn't really need it, they never seem to actually... but to make sure it all looked right across the board I did them all.

Basically you wash the pieces first to rid any dirt/debris.
The kit comes with lubricant so you don't have to worry about running water over it constantly just spray the 3 pads you'll use and the lens every so often to keep them wet.

No drill is or buffer is required for this kit just your hands and spare time. After you go through the process of sanding using the 3 different squares included, both sides work... you put on the restoring compound (basically the buffing part to bring out the shine) and then the sealer in hopes to keep it that way for a long time to come. Basically 90 degree angles left and right for pad 1 for roughly 3-4 mins, up and down for about 5 minutes on pad 2 and another 4-5 minutes with pad 3. Wipe it clean, pour on the restore compound on your cloth and whirl in circles several times until it clears up into a nice, glossy shine.

Comes with cloth microfiber towel job also so everything you need is in the kit minus a pair of gloves and some other towels in general for your work area or to rinse the lens off completely after you are done, just before the sealer. Cost me $16.99, very well worth it.... I'm sure I can do another set if I just buy the lubricant bottle (as I'm about 20% left after doing them all) and still use the same pads with plenty of sealer left over and the restoring compound itself I still have half left, if not more.

Not sure about the longevity of clearness but since I'm doing the super light tinting over them, it'll completely seal it off anyways and will protect it from becoming a problem again anytime in the near future. I wish I would have done this a long time ago, it's far easier than I thought. Always afraid I'm going to screw something up to no return but in this case it came out ace and I couldn't be happier for spending less than $20!

Wow, Clint. Glad to see you're giving her some good care. I can't wait to see it when I stop back through.
