Checking in

Drjohn here, never post but read a lot. Have 97 black LSI, bought new, has 26K miles, all original, and paint never broken. Just returned from a round trip to Tampa area and it ran like a SVX should.

I'm here, new this month, have had the SVX sitting for about a year, I'll spare you the pics for right now, unless burgandy / grey primer / blue primer / bare metal / blue masking tape is your thing =)

searching for answers and advice

After nailing a 14 point buck 2 nights ago in my beloved '90 Reatta I am looking to move on to a more practical and performance based car. The SVX has always grabbed my attention.
Point: There seems to be quite a bit of trouble with the trans in these cars, any advice on future costs or what to look for when buying used?... Any help would be appreciated.

either get a 92/93 and install an external tranny cooler and filter or get a 94+, after this year there was no problem with the trannies. Be also sure it is an AWD.

It'd be nice to have another Ky SVXer around, so I hope you find you a nice one...

You could also look into swapping in a manual transmission. I hear that Huck knows a thing or 2 about that

Hello

Hi everyone,

I've been a big time lurker. I spend most of my time on www.mnsubaru.com which is the Minnesota Subaru club/forum. I have a Polo Green 95 SVX and I want to put in a 5MT like everyone else. I'm currently a student in advertising design and I live in the Twin Cities with my wife and two-year-old daughter. I also have a 1996 Legacy L wagon and a 2002 OB H6 VDC wagon. I'm glad to finally join the SVX network and shoot the breeze with you guys.

I'm not exactly local but I've been to a MN meet and I'm close enough that I would go to more.

...or you could buy my 89 dark blue saphire reatta. I've made it a 5 speed and put a turbo charged series 2 engine in it, and the touch screen works perfect. Not really, I think I'm gonna end up giving it to my father when he retires.

You'll love the transition from reatta to svx. For me, it felt cramped at first, but now i feel it is the other way around. The tranny and engine seals are the biggest things you need to ask about when looking at these cars. The seals tend to go at about 10 years, and the trannies died quick on the 92/93. If you find one with a rebuilt tranny and no tranny cooler added, don't get involved unless it was recent. Goodluck.

Or, unless you're like me, buying one regardless of that anyway, knowing full well that the transmission will fail and that it will need a tranny swap, because that's what you really wanted anyway

I'm new and in need of parts!

hi,
I am new to this forum, but I would like to write often, and learn much. I have a 92 Pearl that I bought last Sept. 05 for 3400. She has 84k and I love her dearly.
After I bought her I installed a new cd player, radiator, alternator, tires, brakes (front), speakers, and now I am going to install an ATF cooler next week. I am in the proscess of changing the trans. filter and fluid. I just gave her an oil change, and next she gets a cooling fluid change. I would like to know how best to keep the trans. I have.
Also I need a wheel. ya just one... I ask the dealer and they are over 400.00, and I would love to be able to spend that money on her, but I can't right now. when I bought the car she only had three matching tires and one odd ball (I did not notice at the time). I would like to find a fourth factor wheel. I know that having miss matched wheels are really bad for the AWD and I if anyone can help me out I would be very thankful! I am also in need of knowledge on how to exstrat a stuborn o2 Sensor.
I live in Taos NM, and have yet to see another SVX in person. The only one I have seen in the one I own (not included the internet). If anyone here owns one and lived near me I would love to meet you and your car.
I am a 20 year old white female going to school full time, and trying to keep up with my SVX and my 1985 Mercedes Brabus (one of a kind car in US).
Ho, and one more thing, I also need a passenger side seat belt (female end) if any one has and exstra.

thanks for all your help
