ah, 3/8" huh? Ok then I'll bend them three smidges, and just to be safe I'll grind about two smidges off the lower mounts. I'm also planning on just using a slightly smaller OD tube for the overflow rather than rig an adapter. I talked to PWR yesterday, and they are priority shipping the radiator cap so I can do the job this weekend. I figure I'll drop the transmission pan and change the fluid & filter while I'm at it. I don't have a digital camera, but I'll try to take some pictures and scan them for the group, along with a procedure for those like me who may be slightly automechanically challenged.

Oh no, not me too!

Hey Guys,

I've been perusing the threads and came across this one on the radiators and thought that with all of the fuss that perhaps I should have a gander at mine. As I got closer to the hood, that sickly feeling crept up between my shoulder baldes. I'm sure that you all know the feeling. Kinda like when you wife calls and you know that you ate the last piece of chocloate in the house.

So, I opens the hood and looks down and lo and behold, there is the dreaded evidenice of what looks to be a 7 or 8" silly putty patch just south of the filler neck. Drat!

So, guess who purchased the last of the first batch of the all new alum rads I called our buddies at PWR and they said that there was one left and because it wasn't assembled as of yet that they could make the required modifications so that I wouldn't have to go through all of the calamities that you guys did. I tried to talk them down to $400 but the guy was a rock. So, I got it for the $450 group price :-)

I have 2 questions. I understand that the new rad holds more tranny fluid than the OEM. How do I check the fluid level to be sure that I have enough? with the engine running and warm or not?

and 2, I read in one of the earlier posts that someone had an issue concerning carbon fiber hood damage by the rad cap. I haven't been able to relocate this post and am concerned because I have one of the CF hoods.

Greg -- mods - All new alum rad :-)

I think that was me. I can't use the new round cap it hits my CF hood so bad that I can't close the hood. I just use the standed pwr cap and it only rubs a little.

second batch rad.

Hey guys,

i got my new alum. rad from pwr in and installed this weekend. For those of you wondering as to whether to buy the second batch of alum. rads i would just like to say i had no problem putting the radiator in, everything fit, the hood shut, the only mod you have to make is scraping away a small section of the passenger side rad. fan where the top hose goes. Today was the first day running the car, the engine was running at one mark below half way which is slightly cooler than before. i changed my tranny fluid and the internal filter as well, my tranny fluid was dirty coming out and somewhat low (we got like 4-5 quarts out maybe). at any rate it shifts better now, i dont have a temp gauge installed so idk if its actually running cooler but it def. shifts better. so yeah theres my story about the new rad. just thought you guys might be interested to know!

You missed out on any discounts that there were. They seem to be full price now.

Is it safe . . . ?

Now that the wars seem to be over and we are well into summer driving temperatures, I was wondering . . .

How are the radiators working?

I'm going to buy a '92 Teal LSL (129,000 miles) from a coworker this weekend. "Everything Works". I've wanted one ever since I saw one at my local dealer in the fall of '91.

DAB

PS: I just got a quote from www.topspeedsales.com for a PWR radiator, $470 + $20 shipping to Portland, OR.
