EG33 builder's, you know who you are...
Just a thought but since LAN is no longer dealin' parts.
Maybe we should start a list of internal parts options/availability? Just a thought. I know there ain't much out there. Or is there? Stuff like pistons, bearings, studs/bolts, cam regrinders?

-Bearings: Also any STi bearings will fit (Cosworth, ACL, Clevite...) -Studs/Bolts: ARP -Cam Regrinders: Web Cams, Deltacams, etc.... (specify the profile that you -want and send them your old cams for a regrind...) -Gaskets: Cometic -Pistons: Well you can send an OEM piston to Ross or CP or.... and have them do replacements according to specs

Exactly. I know about some of these, but is there a list of PN's? I say that cuz lookin @ ARP's catalog it doesn't show any head studs. What about ARP bolts for stock rods? As for pistons I was hopin' there might actually be an off the shelf on from Ross, etc. I'm gonna look into some clevite durashield bearings, see if they have them available.

- Email ARP - Stock rods? you want to keep stock rods? - Pistons should be custom made according to specs. - Bearings, try to buy not too stiff and not too soft bearings... what you also should do is....

Re: EG33 builder's, you know who you are...
No you are right... problem is, a lot of the companies that make EG33 specific components do it by special order, so not much part #'s available... I will dig up what I have when I have more time

Re: EG33 builder's, you know who you are...
You can order a set of ACL's Race tri-metal bearings.
Order two sets of Rod bearings and two sets or main bearings and you're only at $178 (plus then you've got two extra rod and main bearings you can sell or do whatever with). Call them and see if they will sell the bearings in the right #'s for the 6-cylinder and you can drop that price even more. I'm talking to Wiseco and acouple other manufacturers about pistons. For Conrods you can use Eagle H-beams (just have to ask them to sell you a set of 6). I should be able to get sets of 6 Pauter conrods but they are expensive. The Eagles are just as good and are cheaper. The Eagle rods come with ARP 2000 fasteners, and the Pauter's come with their own rolled thread racing rod bolts. Dustin

Re: EG33 builder's, you know who you are...
Perhaps umm... lets figure out whos doing what? because it seems like there are quite a bit of people going around and asking pretty much the same manufacturers about things... so umm... it would probably be much more successful if we figure out who wants want and then present ourselves as a group buy/order vs little pickings.

Re: EG33 builder's, you know who you are...
this is exactly what i was talkin about.
we've got some peeps that wanna build/eg33 newbs, like me. if we had a list of what's available we won't have after looking for some of the basics. not everyone is looking to build a killer 3.3 but a somewhat stronger stock engine. which is why i'm lookin for good con rod bolts. oe is more than adequate w/ good bolts. i like the eagle rods but overkill for my build. if i was buildin' something like this is gonna, fer sure http://youtube.com/watch?v=KhGu0dciwBo&feature=related having stuff like listed valvetrain pieces, ie springs, valves, etc. would be beachin' i'm thinkin s.s valves would be nice and on a boosted setup maybe inconel. pistons i'd like to do 1st overbore w/ good light forged or even hyper pistons. hyper would be lighter and quieter. some gapless rings would be my 1st choice as far as they go.

Honestly, if you were going to go to all the trouble of taking the engine apart for better conrod bolts, it would probably be just as cost effective to do rods aswell..... Then you are not half-assing, and don't have to worry about going back in there later to fix the half-assedness. Eagle rods are not expensive at all. Plus the work of cleaning them up, and then you're also hoping they are not deformed in anyway (doubt they would be, but to me it just doesn't seem worth it). Most likely you're also going to have to have the big end of the rod drilled to fit the new bolts. Engine bearings for us are the same as any EJ22/EJ25 bearing. You just have to get the extra bearings for the last two cylinders. Rods are the same as STi's. (Eagle, Pauter, Crower, ect....) Most of the stuff for a WRX valvetrain will work for us (with slight modifications). Cams were already discussed. (Delta and Web) Piston's are a big thing and have to be specifically for us. I'm talking to Wiseco, CP, and acouple others about making shelved item pistons for us. I'll even see about getting different compression ratios. Edit: Just so you know, I found prices for ARP rod bolts and they vary between $40-$90 (those are prices for a set of 4 rods). So figure $60-$130 for all 6 rods. Plus any other work needed on the rod. Dustin

Re: EG33 builder's, you know who you are...
OK i have the ACL part #'s at the shop for their race series bearing with a lil extra oil clearance. I just ordered two sets for myself and have a distributor for them. They are some of the best bearings you can get inside a suby motor, considering that coated bearings have been known to cause issues for many. The rods should be Eagles all the way..> They are strong as hell and cheap enough that even if you were doing a stock rebuild I would tell you to get them... Pistons and rings are going to be your hold up. If we can get together to decide on the best company and price for specific compression ratios... it would be better and easier to have it all ready. For the top end of the motor... wrx valves are so easy to find its not even funny. Convert to bucket/shim lifters and get a good cam grinder to get them done... A good speed shop can assemble the bottom end and the heads... ARP head studs would be the best option here, I am still not convinced we will need the 14mm studs so their 10mm studs should do fine... IF they still are making them. That is all

Re: EG33 builder's, you know who you are...
right on
the stuff listed below is stuff i've been unaware of, STi's rod, eg bearings, wrx valves. I've not seen ANY previous posts concerning this. yes i did search. why convert to bucket/shim vs. hyd. follower? then how do you? my camming isn't gonna me much more than stock. i don't want the oe ecm to freak out or is that not an issue? ok, i'll pop for the eagle rods. damn you guys!

Re: EG33 builder's, you know who you are...
Your stock ECU is not going to allow very much. The things I have discussed were for a build of which engine management was to change to something adjustable.... No point in building a motor that is controlled by something you cannot adjust to the motor...
