will a svx pass Emissions without a 3nd cat?
will a svx pass Emissions without a 3nd cat.
I'm thinking of getting a Euro Resonator from Stebro, but my car will need to pass emissions with it on the car. I don't want to have to buy a new cat after buying the Euro Resonator if the car fails emissions.

subarus usally run pretty clean in genral, I think you could even pass with one cat, at least in washington state. I heard of toyota MK3 supras turbos that pass emisons with one cat.

I think that is exactly what he's asking.
Assuming your front cats are in good working condition... you should have no problem removing the 3rd one. In fact replace everything between your mainifold & catback & just run one highflow cat. There are very few (none I've heard of, but I'm sure they exist) cats that when used by themselves in an exhaust system don't pass emssions. It's removing all your cats that will get you into problems. |

Part of the emissions inspection in my county requires a visual inspection to make sure all the factory emissions stuff is still there. You might want to make sure that that isn't hte case in your county/state.

I just had emissions testing on my 95 (139,000 miles, original cats and O2 sensors). The limit for Hydro-Carbons is 220 ppm at engine idle (AWD cars are exempt from dyno testing in MA, not sure if that is true elsewhere). My car spit out 63 ppm. It looks to me like I could have passed even if I was missing a cat or two. Just my observation. BTW, we had a 95 AWD Legacy 2.2 with 140,000 miles come in the other day. It had failed the Hydro-Carbon idle test with a score of 524 ppm, more than twice the state limit and about 8 times the pollution my car makes. That car had all sorts of problems.....
