You're still missing the point. When I do finally purchase a 'project' neon, it will be built for under 3 grand. Sure, some of the subies might be faster, and they might handle better, but running 13s and getting 1g on the skidpad isn't too shabby for 3gs.

i think you are missing the point rob....i'm talking about spending $3k or less as well. i'm just saying that the impreza l's older models (94-96) are comparable in price to a neon. all i want is to change the suspension and add a little power. not even looking at doing an engine swap. i don't run dragstrips so i don't know how it would fair nor do i have any interest in dragstrips. i want something to run mountain roads which i gather from your posts a neon can easily handle. and i'm not challenging you to race, just come visit the dragon, enjoy the beauty of the mountains, drive the road, and check out the subaru crowd. jeez....got my point?
