Oil Question Leaking

OK well I just purchased a 1992 Legacy Wagon AWD with 214K miles on it. I drove it about 400miles with no oil leak. THEN i get an oil change and bam oil leak from hell. I just would like to hear the thoughts of some of you.

This is what i think happen. With the change of oil it conditioned or lossened some of the dirt holding it in, then bam found a leak due to the cleaning deturgaents in the oils found in today's oil products, I used the Quaker State High Milage oil 5w30 with a fram 10K oil filter, BTW it is leaking around the oil pan, I did double check and the filter and drain plug are on tight.

Amsoil is on the way but dam not going to put it in the car if it leaks that bad LOL..

Thanks for any imput.

Could it be the seals? Or gaskets somewhere? Good luck.

Did you go to synthetic oil when you changed it? That could be the problem too.

I've had this happen - well, and a quickie-lube place used the same drain plug gasket and cracked it.

But he did say that it was leaking 'around the pan.'

It sounds to me like you just need a new pan gasket, bub. Are you sure it's not leaking from the valve covers? That's a very common place.

Well the Oil Filter was super loose, they just didn't tightn the oil filter. Thats 1st the thing that i seen. So far it is just burning off the oil it has spit out so far. it is not dripping like a #@$% bi#$% anymore. Well time will tell. Thanks for any help. IF it is just the oil pan gasket that will be an easy fix :-). but i really hope it is only just the oil filter being 2.5 turns away from being even hand tight!!! LOL. Thats what i get for being lazy and say well **** no line, i am already going to be here for at least 2 hr's f'n shopping for food and household, might as well have them do it LOL.. well cya :-)
