Actually - it wasn't very bad at all. I was kinda surprise how easy it went.
I had more trouble rebuilding this engine than I had dropping it in alone.
Plus I had motivation of the highest order. My mother in law is inside the house. My garage is my sanctuary.
That is just outrageously impressive. What was the most difficult part in the pull and installation for you? How high did you have the car off the ground? Actually, I have about a million questions, because I have this planned myself, but not looking forward to it. How long was the entire job? (Not counting rebuild time... Ack! Another scary.. and expensive thought.)

the weather guys have been promising us about a foot of snow tonight for the past few days. it hasn't started yet, but i just looked outside and it appears to begin shortly. and no, i haven't taken the snow tires off yet. if we get less than the foot of snow, i may go out and have some fun tomorrow.

Good call. The stuff that dumps on you will come my way. So I hope it snows all over you, and when it gets to WI, there should be nothing left to drop on us.

Hey, I am just saying that I've dusted the cob webs off the grill, bought more lighter fluid, charcoil, put the heavy shoes away, and such. Spring is here. We don't need any of that snow here. Even the trees are budding!

we use the grill year-round and i always have a spare propane tank. as for heavy shoes, i pretty much wear hiking boots all the time unless i'm wearing shorts so they stay out too. the trees, however, are budding and i don't think this storm will be good for them.

my problem with the storm is that i'm getting stir crazy and would like to get out.

Well, I fninished her today. Bolted down all the accessories and dropped in the new PWR radiator and fired her up.
She is purring like a kitten.
I am so proud of myself I could die.
I had to climb in through the window to drive her around the block because my head is so huge right now.

The most difficult part of the installation was getting the stupid main crank sprocket off the replacement engine. This should never be hard but this one was rusted on. I actually ended up breaking a few of the teeth off the back of the sprocket and had to buy a new one.
Beyond that lining the engine up to drop it in is a little tricky, maybe because I was alone so I had to go back and forth from wiggling the engine to raising/lowering the cherry picker.

I never had the car more than a jackstand height up in the air. Only had to lift it that high to get to engine mounts, exhaust, tranny bolts, etc. Not necessary to have it up to pull the engine, but you do need a jack under the tranny to get the engine off and on just to get it to the right height.

Total time from pulling to running was a weekend I guess.
I probably put about 6 hours into it saturday and about 8 hours into it today. Working at just a slow pace. Never done it before so I tried not to rush anything.

Incredible! I would have a big head myself!

I'm going to take a stab at this come June, but I'll be going a LOT slower than a weekend. That is just incredible!! Great job man!!!
