New York to Washington - Any tips

Hi

My wife and I and my friend are heading over to the States in Feb - we will be there for 5 days, flying in and out of JFK and were hoping to do Washington DC

Has anyone any recommendations on the best way to get from NY to DC?

Many thanks in advance

James

Was back in Sydney for a while but not hot enough so now in Dubai! Has it been that long since I owned SVX-33H!

The train (Amtrak) is the best way to go in my opinion. You can book online at amtrak.com. Note that some of the "regional service" routes make fewer stops and take considerably less time than others. If you look through the schedule, you can find regional routes that are only slightly longer in duration than the Acela Express trains, and cost half as much.

There are plenty of club members in the Maryland/DC area, maybe we can work out a get-together while you are here...

Couldn't agree more about the train, although if you're staying close to the airports that isn't always the most expensive option. Of course, borrrowing an SVX during the stay would be the most enjoyable method of transportation.

The train is the best idea, because of the horrible traffic in the DC area. If you insist on driving, Interstate 95 (I-95) runs through both.

Many thanks guys, very much appreciated!!

As we are only in DC for one night, I am not sure whether the logistics would allow a meet up, however, if you driving along and see someone burst out of the Smithsonian, having ran down 8 flights of stairs, cameras in hand on autoshoot, that would be me as the lure of an SVX outdid an Apollo capsule!

But I will see how things work out

Many thanks again and looks like the train is it - although idea of borrowed SVX's is appealing!!

Cheers

James (Cassie, my wife and Chad who is travelling with us also say thanks)

At this point, it will be two days at the beginning so will be lots and lots of running around! Out of me, my wife and friend, only I want to see the Intrepid!

Anyways, if we can work out something, would be great to catch up

Cheers

James
