Use caution while reconnecting battery!

This is just a stupid thing to know if you ever disconnect the car battery. (This may be common knowledge here.)

I installed a sub & amp in the trunk this weekend. When I reconnected the battery when I was done I heard an intermittent humming sound. It was the CD being ejected out of the player upon receiving power again. The problem was, the radio door was closed! The CD got jammed so that it wouldn't go back in, and I couldn't open the door to get it. I had to take out the ashtray, reach up and pull the CD down, bending it in half at a 45 degree angle, to allow the door to open. Luckily the CD player still works, and the CD returned to it's regialr flat shape (no crease!) Some CD's shatter into splitners when you bend them that much. Whew!

Remember, if you disconnect the battery, make sure either 1) you remove the CD from the player, or 2) you keep the audio door open, so that when you reconnect the battery, it ejects without problems.

Unhappy Been there

Yeah the exact same thing happened to me after I installed my new deck. I felt like a real tool. But I managed to get it out (after much complaining).

Last words of wisdom huh. If you could reach the cd from underneath, how come you could push it back into the radio just enough to open the door? I would figure that any cd player could have a cd put into it without power just enought to clear. Is there really that little room between the door and the cd player? Where do you have it mounted top or bottom?

It's the factory player, so it's mounted low. The "push in" method didn't work.

It was a group called "The Samples." They're alternative from Colorado. (Yeah, I feel real smart.)

Significant Technical Input
I can open the door far enough to slide my fingers in and push the cd back in. Use the back side of your fingers to push.

Re: Been there

The guys that test drove one of the SVXs for the R&T SVX guide had the same problem with a jammed CD. Looks like a design flaw to me.

I think it might be a design flaw because of the lip inside the door that catches the CD, but I wouldn't trade that door for anything. I love when people get in my car and say "hahaha, you don't even have a radio in this thing?". That's when I push my little button and reveal the true beauty. (of course, that's also when they say "This car is sweet!") Design flaw or not, all it is, is a memory game to see if your going to look back this time and say oh yeah, I remember what happened last time I did this.

cd jamming with the door

I've jammed my cd to the door atleast four times if not more.

I've always been able to some how pull that thing out of there.

Maybe its these cheap flexy audio cdr's I listen too

I fixed the design flaw by installing an aftermarket stereo. Now the CD slot is at the top plus I have many added features like an infrared remote control mounted on the steering wheel.

The only problem now is that it doesn't play DVDs or MP3s.
