Resetting codes - Help, not working

Ok, well thanks for anyone who helped answer some questions when I replaced my oxygen sensors,...everything went good...car runs fine...

But.... I can't clear the codes for the bad sensors

I stuck the blue wires in the top two black connector terminals from the left, notch facing up.
Started the car for a few seconds, shut the car off, and removed the pins.
I then stuck one blue wire in the second pin from the left on the top and turned the car on but not started..... I still get the 32 and 37 code for the sensors!

What am I doing wrong? I never disconnected the battery to begin the replacement, but am I supposed to leave the car running for awhile or start car/shut car off in a certain amount of time??

What's the trick??

Disconnect the battery ground.
Get back in the car.
Turn on the ignition to full, but no need to hit the starter.
Turn on the lights.
Done.

Reconnect, and all codes are gone.
What you have done, is the lights have forced the system to drop all residual voltage.

So this will not blow any of my fuses will it? Or cause any problems should it?
You are saying disconnect GROUND...then turn the car "on" but not start the car, then turn headlights on?

How long to leave the lights on?..just for a few seconds?

Then reconnect.

Then reconnect.

It instantly drains the system of all voltage.
No shorts, or other issues have been reported.
Lights on for less than two seconds is all it takes, because it's such a big drain.

I see....the computer acts as a capacitor, so the codes are always stored there for a certain amount of time even if the battery is connected, so the best way is to flush (drain) the system through the ground wire.

Perhaps there's a fault with the actual 02 sensor circuit and not just the sensors themselves?

I hope not...those were a PITA to disconnect and reach my hands in there....now I guess if the circuitry is bad, I will find out after I can clear these codes and then check the codes.

I thought the lights were supposed to dim when I tried this. They stayed on and bright, but I was able to clear the code. The C/E code blinks normally now when I run the test.

If you disconnected the Battry, then you should not get anything from the lights when you turn them on.

Now ignition off, and re-connect.
Then you start the car, and the system re-learns all it's incoming information.
