tire question
if i put 225/55-16 on the front and 225/60-16 on the back, is that ok?

how long before something terrible happens to my car do i have? im definatley gonna fix this, but i didnt know it would mess anything up so im not gonna drive it until i get new tires, but how long do i have?

My car had either 55's or 60's on it when I bought it. There are rub marks on the fenderliners in the rear to prove it. It would rub if I cornered hard with 4 people in the car. Otherwise it was fine. (although the tall sidewall is ugly)
What do you have on your car now that is worrying you?

With the same size tires you are all set as long as they have similar wear. To get by run a little lower pressure on the 60 series rears and you should be OK for a while but it wears out the transfer clutches.

well now that i know it is going to mess up the AWD i am definatley going to have to get new tires asap. i was just curious if it was ok to drive a little bit atleast to the tire shop , and if it is fine to use 225/55-16 all around instead of the stock 225/50-16. this would be better because then i only have to buy two new tires instead of four. any more suggestions? i will let out a little air though for now in the rear. until i get the good word ill leave it parked.

im really worried about hurting my car and im freaking out lol, so suggestions to my problem are welcome. i paid 80 bucks for four new tires, i just didnt know the size issue. (bought from a friend of mine)

The key is to run tires that are as close to the same rolling radius as possible. That means same size, wear, manufacturer, and rotate them often. Most folks stick with the stock size.

so is it ok to just go w/ 225/55-16? or should i just get four stock size tires. the tires i have on now are all goodyear and i just took a little bit of air out of the rear tires. should i just go and stick with the stock size? also when i bought the car i received 3 dunlop and one goodyear which was not cool seeing as how i was supposed to also get 18" wheels w/ my purchase, however the tires i have on even though the size is different, they are brand new pretty much and i dont want to have problems in the future so the sooner that i can resolve this the better, should i get 2 more 225/55-16's to match the front or should i just get stock size tires.

If your really worried you could pop the FWD Fuse in to take it to get new tires.

The chart in the link shows the differences in overall diameter & width of the tires you are looking at.
The 225/65/16's are 25.7 inches in diameter as opposed to 24.9 for the stock 225/50/16's or 25.3 for the stock 215/55/16's on the 97's. The 215's are narrower however at 8.9 inches vs 9.2 for the 225's. Net result, in addition to the rubbing issue, caused by the increased diameter is that your speedometer will not read correctly as it is calibrated to the diameter of the tire/wheel at the factory. You may be able to get your dealer to re calibrate it if you choose a non stock size. http://www.nokiantires.com/html/NRV.html PS The Nokian NVR is a great tire.
