Cruise Control - JDM SVX

After several attempts to get the Cruise Control to set on my SVX with no success I assume it was broken. Playing with it later I discovered that it set okay and a dash light came on "Cruise Set", the Power Light also went off. When I attempt to increase the speed above about 105 km/hr it appeared to disenage and slow about 5 km/hr and the maintain speed.

It would appear that the cruise can not be set above 105 km/hr. Is this a "Feature" in the JDM cars?

If so does anyone know how to bypass this, as 95% of the time I use the Cruise Control it is above this speed.

Yes it is a feature of JDM cars and mine has this. However as our speed limit is 100 Km/hr I have found it useful as a means of proof if pulled over for speeding

I would imagine changing things could involve software. Someone may know different.

I have a '95 JDM and I am able to set the cruise control at speeds greater than 105km.

I think the JDM cruise control is supposed to operated between 25 and 110km/h.

On my first SVX, I modified it by using a km/h to mph pulse converter on the speed wire to the cruise control unit. Thus the range is now 25mph to 110mph (40km/h to 176km/h).

I didn't bother on the my more recent SVXes because the cruise control unit is a ***** to get at.

JDM Cruise Control interchangable with US/Can Cruise Control

Thanks for the response.

Does any know if it would be possible to swap Cruise Control unit with US/CAN?

Any chance anyone has a copy of the wiring diagram for the JDM unit.

Probably.

If anybody has a JDM service manual, I'd love to see it.

Phil,

The manuals in in English which I have appear to exactly cover my JDM car, as I have found no variations. The cruise control wiring diagram shows that the cruise control unit will be the item involved in respect of calibration. I would expect this module to be interchangeable.

I'm sure the Cruise Unit is interchangeable.

I only have the USA manuals and while they are certainly good, they are not perfect.

Does your car have the EGR system shown in the manual?
Does your manual show the wiring for the power mode button or the catalyst temperature sensors?
Any info about the 4WS system?

Trevor, aside from the minor grammatical above, are you saying the manual that you have is JDM, but written in English, or are you saying that the English language manual that you own appears to be covering the Aus / NZ model SVX with little or no obvious changes from the Japanese car?

Joe,

The manuals in in English which I have appear to exactly cover my JDM car, as I have found no variations.

Apart from the typo “in in”, this text is clear to me. Where is there a grammatical error?

However:- The manuals printed in the English language, which are in my possession, appear to contain text, which exactly describes the mechanical and physical features pertaining to my Japanese Manufactured Subaru SVX.

There is no indication within the manuals what they cover. However on some wiring diagrams there are variations for “European and Australian,” as well as “other models.” I have always taken the manuals to cover all LHD cars. The manuals were sourced from Australia via James/Jamie, whatever.

Cheers, Trevor.

Re: Cruise Control - JDM SVX

I fiqured I would update this thread. I had a chance to check out the wiring onmy to Cars. The CDN Cruise Control module is not interchangeable with the JDM Cruise Control module. The wiring on to the Cruise Control Module on the JDM contains an extra wire. Pin 12 has a Black with White Stripe on the large (20 in connector) and the small connector has the Yellow with Black Stripe going to Pin 3, whereas, this goes to pin 4 on the CDN model.

The boards are identical between both models the JDM has extra components on the board from pin 12. There is really no difference between pin 3 and pin 4, they only have components on either pin 3 or pin 4 but does exactly the same thing. I just prevents one Cruise Control module being swapped with the other.

If anyone has any information (wiring diagram) on what they think the Pin 12 goes or does it would be great if they could let me know what they think.
