Passenger Headlight very dim
So I don't think my passenger headlight is working right. And I know its not the bulb cause I have tried them both and they both work in the drivers side but not the passenger side. The reason for this I believe is that I sprayed some engine cleaner over the engine and didn't cover the wires. So how would I go about fixing this? I don't want to get a ticket, and I'm sure the stupid Corvallis police will give me one.
Thanks David

Re: Passenger Headlight very dim
Have you inspected the passenger side wiring to see if there's any visible corrosion of the wires?

Re: Passenger Headlight very dim
High beam doesn't even work and the low beam is really really dim. Also I have not checked the wires yet

Re: Passenger Headlight very dim
After checking to make sure there is not melted and or corroded connection on the bulb plug, swap the headlight relays and see if the problem moves from side to side.

Re: Passenger Headlight very dim
not that easy...more than one relay involved in the left circuit and more than one involved in the right circuit.
Could use a volt meter and find out where the voltage drop occurs. With only lo beam, on since might be easier ... less things to check Please keep us up to date. Keith Last edited by kwren; 08-12-2008 at 11:41 PM. |

Re: Passenger Headlight very dim
I had a similar problem with an Outback at my work, check your headlight fuses. (If they aren't obviously blown, and you don't have a test light, swap the fuses with each other and see if the problem switches sides.)

Re: Passenger Headlight very dim
That's my thought, as well. The way the wiring works, with one side out (relay or fuse), the other side is the source for 100% of the lighting. The hi-beam won't work on the one side, and the low will eventually/immediately provide power backwards through 2/3 of the remaining bulbs to light all three up dimly. This, from experience.

Re: Passenger Headlight very dim
Turns out it was just a fuse. Now I need to plug my HID's back in and see if they still work
