what size press for wheel bearings?

I have been looking for new tools to put in the garage and saw a cheap 6 ton press at Harbor Freight, but I don't know if 6 tons would be enough for doing things like the wheel bearings. Anyone know? Also I was thinking of maybe starting a new thread for "Special Tools" one that has original subaru part numbers and also for the home fabricators (I am also going to buy a MIG welder hehe). Anyone interested in a tools thread?

not sure if this is what you are looking for or not but here is the compressors and the pliers on the same page should be the expanders for removing the rings. I know it may not be high quality tools but they should work.

I don't know if anyone has tricks or something they made up that would be easier but I believe I saw LAN using a compressor in the photos of his engine build.

Re: what size press for wheel bearings?

Sorry I didnt read your post closely enough piston PIN remover, so not sure if any of these help but you may be able to rent them from an autoparts store too.

http://buy1.snapon.com/catalog/item....&group_ID=1594

also these tools are listed for a 2004 impreza procedure so the parts department at the dealership should be able to say whether they would work on the svx. Or someone else on this site but I figured I would post it for ya
ST 499097700 PISTON PIN REMOVER
ST 499897200. PISTON CIRCLIP PLIER

and this thread had alot of info in it that may help I don't know for sure though.

This site looks very informative for special tools for all subaru's including SVX and some tools are also listed for Legacy as well.
