Any SVX Techies Out There?
lol.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rYxqgjq6TxI Will (Paladinwkh) bought this 92 AWD Teal in November and he just wanted to know if you guys think it's the diff or not. One of his shop mechanics at Subaru said try turning the wheel all the way to one side to see if it's a broken axle but I can't move it as it's facing downhill and the weight of the car is on a cinder block. On the upside, the motor runs absolutely perfect, it's whisper quiet at idle but not much more could be said for the transmission. Lemme know what you guys think, hopefully we'll be taking two Teal bombs down to Reading with us.

Re: Any SVX Techies Out There?
Sounds like front diff. Spider gears inside the carrier will kill all drive to the wheels yet allow the ring gear to turn and let the speedo rev out like it did. Either that or a broken axle.

Re: Any SVX Techies Out There?
Yeah. That sounds like a front diff to me too.

Re: Any SVX Techies Out There?
Well we definitely knew something is broken, no surprise there, he bought it broken as a fixer upper.
We just checked it out and the passengers side axle is pushed out of the tranny about an inch. When in a gear it doesn't spin a degree but does get pushed out each time it knocks. Still broken diff or just a poopy axle? Either way he wants to replace the tranny, just curious for the time being.

Re: Any SVX Techies Out There?
poopy axle would be a 1 hour fix.
broken pinion on diff, well, a few weeks, after sourcing a tranny.
