2005-7 Impreza 2.5L 4.11 switch?
My research shows that a 2005-07 Impreza 2.5L auto transmission should have the 4.11 final drive. A 4.11 rear diff gear set has already been installed in my SVX with a previous transmission that has been rebuilt twice. Do you think that this would be a good replacement? One was found with 11197 miles for 399 + 125 shipping. Would it be more benficial to install a 4.44 transmission and differential for $785 shipped? Any idea on how many hours either switch would take.
I really do appreciate your time and knowledge. Jeff |

Re: 2005-7 Impreza 2.5L 4.11 switch?
It won't be a "Plug and Play" swap, as the newer transmissions have different electronics....
Young Tom has done one on Melis's SVX, so he can probably help you with the details...

Re: 2005-7 Impreza 2.5L 4.11 switch?
What would be the last year that would enable plug and play?
Which is better the 4.11 or 4.44? THANKS Jeff |

Re: 2005-7 Impreza 2.5L 4.11 switch?
The last year for a "plug and play" would be 98.5....if it has a screw on filter on it, it is NOT plug and play.
I myself think the 4.44's are best, as they creat less strain on the transmission...but if you do more highway driving the 4.11's will do a little better on MPG
