She's BACK!!!!
Well, if any of you remember me, I used to have a 95 lsi. Been gone for about 5 months, traded my semi-restored legacy back for her!
Anyway, spent about 55 hours at school last week so I havent really had the chance to give it a real thorough look over but i'm having a problem: Most of the interior stuff doesn't work. Dash lights, clock, radio, dome lights, console shift indicator light (on the actual gear shifter). The lights that do work: All the dummy's (CEL, AT fluid temp, battery oil etc) And the dash shift indicator. Checked all of the under-dash fuses. Anyone have a good place to start? I guess i'm speculating that there was a short somewhere? I haven't the slightest, or schematics or time to look over them hahahaha SOOOO... Any ideas? Thanks guys, feels great to be back to my svxxx.... |

Re: She's BACK!!!!
The only thing I see that touches all of those is the time control module- there is a red wire with black trace that touches all of those items.

Hmm.. Time control module? Not sure where/what you're reffering to. I actually haven't touched anything at all except for checking the fuses. Some kind of series power though? I'll def have time w/i the next two weeks to look, just wanted to get a good idea of what i should be looking for first! Thanks guys

Re: She's BACK!!!!
It's behind and above the glove box. Location pic attached, the glovebox is just a bunch of screws/bolts to remove.

Re: She's BACK!!!!
Oh also!!! The HVAC must be getting an altered power supply. It doesn't remember where I had my temp set... definitely not the normal thing.

Re: She's BACK!!!!
That sounds like the constant battery power is lost- does your radio keep the pre-set stations?

The radio doesn't work at all, so no

Re: She's BACK!!!!
I don't know how good you are with wiring diagrams, but this is the full wiring diagram for a 1992- I can't imagine 1995 is a whole lot different. The wires might be different colors, but the locations are likely the same (hell, the wire colors probably are too).

Re: She's BACK!!!!
How long has the radio not worked? maybe it does if the problem is fixed

I will guess that you have a break/short/blown fuse on your constant power line. If its the constant then the radio should power on with ACC like your HVAC does, just with lost presets like HVAC doesn't hold your temp. Radio not powering on with ACC may be a separate issue. Did the person you traded the car to replaced the radio? They could have caused all of this if they messed up the reinstall of the stock radio. Check this fuse? No expert here. Just a shot in the dark. Last edited by Lookin4SVX; 01-17-2011 at 06:25 AM. |

Re: She's BACK!!!!
So been a bit. Checked the clock fuse, not blown. I looked over that wiring diagram a bunch but still couldn't seem to really deduce anything from it. I put the radio in well before selling it. It worked fine.. as far as I know they didn't pull it back out for anything. Any brilliant ideas?

Re: She's BACK!!!!
jump power to somewhere down the line and see if it powers everything else up, if it only powers a few items you can look at the diagram to see where the power is lost. maybe check for a common ground.

Re: She's BACK!!!!
the 20 amp "light SW" is what controls a lot of interior lighting. Did you check that one at all?

Re: She's BACK!!!!
Sorry to take forever. Had checked all fuses etc. Turns out somewhere along the constant lead for the radio was a break. Rewired it and BAAAMMM everything works!
