turbo build: Holset hx30 turbo, or twin scroll HX35?

They're both diesel turbo's off of cummins turbo diesel's.
The HX40 is supposedly able to achieve full boost (pressure not given) at 5000rpm on an ej22T engine. So, given we've got a bit more engine, and running a holset hx35 turbo I'd imagine this turbo spooling around 3000rpms.

Thoughts?

Determine your pressure ratios and mass flow rates, and then look at compressor maps for the HX30 and HX35. After calculating these at your desired HP and RPMs, you should find your answer.

I'd think the turbo is far to small for our engines. I'd go a hx40 or bigger. The turbo I run is about same size as hx40 and is crazy responsive and prolly too small.

The HX35 is what I'm going to use. It flows 50-58lbs/min which leaves me plenty of room to grow into as I mod internals of another engine.

An HX40 on an ej22 hits full boost (psi not given) at 5500rpm. So, that's ridiculous and not really worth it to me. According to an engine calculator, for 1bar of pressure, at 6000rpm I'd need 42lbs/min from a turbo.

The HX35 hits almost 60lbs/min and would start building positive pressure in the 3-3500 rpm range. The HX30 is way too small, it would be okay for a 5-8psi na setup at about 36-42lbs/min.

I've done a lot of reading on these turbos, I'm just curious as to what you guys think. Have you ever seen/read about an svx running a holset turbo?

My gt35r is a 65 lb turbo... around 5 psi at 2750 rpm... It's about size of the hx40 isn't it?

It's SLIGHTLY larger than the HX35w, not quite an HX40. The HX35 does 53-58lbs/min.

Re: turbo build: Holset hx30 turbo, or twin scroll HX35?

well, couldn't find a holset 35, got a IHI vicu for free tho. Can't find a compressor map for it, so I might rebuild it and ebay it off, it IS twin scroll, but without a compressor map it's damn near useless for me.

Still up in the air about it =\.
