Lap Belt Stuck

So I bought my 92 SVX basket case a few months ago and would like to get it on the road by the end of next week. Of the problems I've dealt with and still have to contend with, one has stopped me.

*I have the automatic seat belts. The shoulder portion works as designed, but the lap belt will not retract.*

*The seatbelt warning indicator is on. I haven't checked the codes yet*

I'm at school and the car is 150 miles away, so I haven't had much time to look at it up close.

*Is this a common issue? Does anyone know how to gain access to the retracting mechanism itself?*

Thanks in advance

Re: Lap Belt Stuck

Don't know where you're located (other then in the US) but I'd just pick up a good lap unit and swap it out, I'm sure Nate would sell you a good one for $20

Re: Lap Belt Stuck

Lap belt not retracting or even not being latched should not cause a seat belt light as you probably know...

Re: Lap Belt Stuck

I'm in the Northwest or Southwest corner of Pennsylvania, depending on the week.

I plan on checking the codes when I get home this weekend to see what can of worms I'm in for.

I'd love to replace that lap unit. I'm just unsure of how to get to it. I'd like to have a plan of attack before I get home to start work.
