Time to Part (not part out)

mks iphone w svx 033.jpgOriginal owner of '92 LSL Pearl White with 120K miles..Runs well..Looks good with some rust spots, some minor dents and dings, etc. and was just hit by another car in accident (first one ever) and front bumper, left turning signal and hood damaged (2014 Lexus had 4x's the damage and his fault)..All service records from day one- work done documented re suspension, brake lines, transmission, etc. and, as driven 3-4 times per week and my "baby", always maintained so everything works…Make me an offer. Car is located in Stamford, CT.

Re: Time to Part (not part out)

Pictures are helpful. Sounds like a fixer up err. Any major repairs? Tranny work etc.?

Re: Time to Part (not part out)

yes- but made me think about why I am still holding onto her...I am not a mechanic and have loved owning her and keeping her up and running, but she's old and more probs bound to pop up and I own other cars....I have truly loved my svx - just feels like its time to let her go and have someone else pamper her before she becomes ugly or not driveable....bittersweet, but would rather remember her as she's been from her birth to today...M

Re: Time to Part (not part out)

Just added some pictures- had some trouble doing so...but 5 are now there for viewing- Not really a "fixer upper" as drove her to work today and other than some wheel bearing noise and a rattle off and on due to flap loose inside exhaust, runs great and cosmetic damage not that awful...M

Re: Time to Part (not part out)

Good pick up- when orig antenna broke tried all sorts of interior antennas and all sucked, so used simple mast antenna in trunk, but worked better outside car so put it inside black rubber tube I had and mounted to wing w black zip ties. Not that pretty, but works pretty well and not that noticeable. M

No interest in my baby? Taking to body shop for repairs next week…Will monitor ebay for recent sales of comparable clean, running svx's.

Exclamation Re: Time to Part (not part out)

As stated, everything works well (i drive her most days) and I have all records, etc. Also, forgot to add that I have replaced all the speakers and have a few extra parts as well and a bunch of literature, etc… I will let her be adopted for $5,000 or very close to that sum. Email me at Frogman75@aol.com [/email] if you are interested. MK

Re: Time to Part (not part out)

Hello all…Long story, will make it short. Had some interest after posted ad on Ebay…almost sold for over $3K….DRIVING HOME FROM LGA ON HUTCH AND SIDESWIPED- damage mostly to left side rear quarter panel…no mechanical damage and drives fine…guy had insurance, got estimate and his Ins Co now determining value as Total Loss!! If I take this, then I have to give Ins Co the car as "Salvage"…or I can keep my baby, but title will state "Salvage/Total Loss" and illegal to drive in CT!! (can fix and have retitled as "Rebuilt", but hassle to do so with inspection, have to flatbed to inspection site, etc….Waiting on determination from Ins Co re value and thinking that if give her to them for salvage, maybe before they cart it away I can have a "fire sale" and part her out to any interested vultures who want to come down to Stamford and pick up parts….Anybody have any other ideas on this/experience and advice regarding my situation??? Seems a total shame that cosmetic damage which is NOT that bad should have this result…She rides fine and otherwise looks great…..Let me know….MK

Re: Time to Part (not part out)

I had a similar experience with an ins. co and car value. Argue with them about what they actually sell for and they may settle with you for just under total loss. Of course, you then have to decide if it can be fixed for that.
