Changing oils?

Hey everyone....

As some of you may know I did get my SVX last week and im about to change the oil to probably 10W30. I was wondering if anyone recommended either synthetic or regular, im not sure what the original owner used and it doesnt say in the manual.

The car has 85,000 miles. Should I go ahead and change the Auto transmission fluid as well as the differential fluids?

IMHO

Do a search on synthetic and pay some attention to the cautions.

Do you have the owners manual? Look at the service intervals. If you don't know the cars history you should consider all the fluids ripe for change.

Also change the ATF & diffy fluid and flush the radiator and put in NEW Prestone.

Also call Subaru Headquarters in Cherry Hill, NJ. Give them your VIN and ask them for an owner's manual. They should send you one for free.

BTW, I've never heard of any problems with changing differential fluid to full synthetic, so even if you don't go that way for oil or ATF, might want to for diff fluid.

Well, here's one case

Shortly after(2K) changing my front diff fluid over to synthetic, I broke three teeth off the ring. What I changed out was fairly clean. Car had 98K. Could be a coincidence, but not many have reported diff problems. I think the same thing happened to Shotsky as well.
