Digital ATF gauge

This is specifically for those of you who have Nordskog digital ATF gauges in your cars.

I want to do an installation like this in my car:

http://www.geocities.com/maldbnsf/trannytemp.html

But I want to put mine where the coin box is now. I want to cut out the back of the coin box and just leave the outer part as a bezel for the gauge.

Have any of you taken the gauge apart? Is it constructed like the one in the above photos?

I would just buy the Cyberdyne gauge in the example, but I want the green readout because it'll match the car's displays better.

Oh, and I need to know what temperature sending unit you guys bought to work with this gauge.

Thanks!

I've never heard of them before. I have the Dakota Digital gauge with it's own sending unit designed for it.

I'm also thinking of replacing the coin holder with it eventually as well.

Significant Technical Input
I was thinking more along the line of mounting it in the instrument cluster.

I've thought about replacing the door or trunk indicators with a good digital gauge. If I can just find a good digital display that's small enough.

I've thought about that, but I'd like my installation to be easily removable. I might even just install connectors so I can pop the gauge out and replace it with the coin box whenever I want. I'm also concerned that the temp gauge will be too big and too bright and overpower the display.

Where I want to mount it, the gauge won't be exactly in my line of sight, which I like. It's not something I want to be constantly aware of, just check once in awhile.

Norskog gauge

Hey Mr Pockets I have a Nordskog gauge in my svx. I didn't install it but got it and took it in. I did take it apart though to examine it and I don't think you'd be able to square it up like that easily. I got mine from Summit and got the standard sender for it and it works fine. Mine is mounted between the instrument cluster and the d. side mirror. I kind of like it there but it does kinda get a reflection sometimes at night. It is quite close to the green of the other stuff though.

Thanks, Bob.

I don't really want to 'square it up.' And, if I have to, I'll use some scrap plastic to adapt the gauge to the bezel I'll make.

I don't want to install the gauge in an obvious place - I'd rather it was hidden away. I'm just that much of a purist.

Thanks, though. Despite your advice, I'll probably still buy one and try it my way anyway.

gauge

I know what you mean. I put mine there so all that I need to do is feed the wires back and it'll look like it was never there. The gauge is a little on the light side if sunlight is on it but not so bright that at night it kills your eyes. The only option I wish it had was a setable flash so when it reached x degrees it would flash.
