Audi GTs

Anyone know about these cars? I saw a white one the other day... the interior was TRASHED, and the guy driving it looked like he was homeless. But.... the car caught my attention. Any information to share?

i think they are sorta goofy-looking. i've always thought that an Audi V8 would make a cool winter car, though.

I had a choice between an Audi V8 and the SVX.

Obviously, we can tell which I chose by which online car forum I joined.

Well... I believe they're basically a VW Sciorocco (whatever), and I've always liked those as well. For about 1500, they don't look too bad.

I think they're kinda cool looking, especially when they're modded. There was a REALLY clean Scirocco tearing it up autocrossing a while back. Neat cars.

that GT is a cool customer.. it must be a sccorirocio clone

a friend of my dad's has an A8 with the 4.2 liter V8.. he let me drive it once.. pretty @#$(*@#$*@#$*@#$(!@#(!*% amazing. except for some reason, the tires would cry around every corner.. even though it felt like there was a tremendous amount of grip left..

They used the GT as a rally car IIRC. There are some new commercials with the car in them. Thats one of the cars that I wouldnt mind having.

Cool

I'm not sure about any incestuous relationship between the GT & Scirocco, as the drivetrains & engines were dissimilar, & the GT is a larger vehicle. The first generation Scirocco hit the streets in '77 (I think). I bought a used 2nd gen. ('82) Scirocco for my daughter, and eventually inherited it. It had a stiff ride, a wonderful gearbox & offered a lot of fun for a 74 HP vehicle.

I knew a girl last year with some type of older Audi Coupe that I kinda liked. It wasn't all too spectacular looking, but it reminded me of our cars. It was fairly rare, expensive to fix, AWD (I think), fairly quick but great on the highway, and had all the features the SVX had in 92 (cd, climate control, etc). Not sure what it was called though...

The UR quattros are pretty sweet too, pretty rare, they seem to be the cars that started it all, short wheelbase, turbo, 4wd with adjustable center diff. I've only seen 4 ever, 2 of which were in boulder. A little pricey but pretty neat.

That must be their homologation model for their rally cars. Looks like there are under 1000 ever imported into the USA over a few years. I wish I could find one and I had enough money to buy it. They look really cool.

UR-Quattros

The UR Quattros were unbeatable in the eighties.

They won nearly every rallye-event.

With more than 500 horsepower it was too dangerous so they slowed down the cars in the late eighties and early nineties!

But a great car. I love the UR Quattro (4WD, 280 horsepower). Sometimes I see some in very good shape over here, but they are as rare as my SVX!
