It's just a concept. You should have seen the concepts from the other manufacturers at the same show - they literally made the B9 seem conservative.

3rd best Subie Convertable I've seen.

1. XT convertable (not factory but beautiful!)
2. EA-81 (Brat Style) conv. (not beautiful but just plan cool if you swap dual range 4wd into it)
3. The scrambler.

maybe that's why I love it so much!!

My impression of the car and styling:

A Subaru Miata with an Alfa Romeo front end.

I love the look but I think it needs a supercharged EG33 in it.

Then it could compete with the BMW Z8

I really like it! Except for the ugly front end of course. Everything else is sharp as hell. The body, while devoid of creases and hard angles that seem to be dominating everything else these days, looks real wide and muscular in a clean, simplified way. I love the rims they chose for it! I also think an AWD roadster with a WRX engine mated to a 6-speed tranny would be truly kick-butt! I would love to see Subaru make such an animal after they terminate the bozo who is into making puppy dog faces on the front of their concept cars. Just what the heck are they thinking???

I did like the mention of the SVX:

my point.

is a sports car buyer going to want a gas/electric hybrid sports car? are any of us in the market for such an animal? don't most of us see this as a pretty fair styling exercise, but instead think how cool it would be with one of the current turbo powerplants w/ six-speed, to go out trolling for Z4's and S2K'S?? would any of us part with 20 to 30 large for a two-seat, top-down Prius?

I dont think the tech is there yet. however they are getting better. They figured out how to get maximum torgue. They dont use trannies. They started mounting the motors directly to the wheel hubs. By not using a transmission there isnt any loss. Still isnt anywhere close to combustion engine performance, but its a step in the right direction.

B9 is so far the only Subaru Design that came out recently that I may be happy with. It's not the best looking thing on earth but it's not too bad. I wonder what the inside look like.

I like the Massenger concept from the outside but inside is not my style.

i honestly think subaru is trying to be porche.
making odd looking sport coupes and trying to become established into the luxury performance category with puny engines.
its not a bad thing.
