SVX engine in my VW Westfalia. What's the easiest way to increase power?
Hi All,
Recently I had a 94 SVX engine (46K) installed in my 91 VW Syncro Westfalia (camper van). Needless to say the extra 150hp is phenomenal! Now that I have it back home at altitude- 6300 feet- I'd love to feel the power it had at sea level. The torque in 2nd was just awesome. Is there a chip for this engine? Any help/tips would be appreciated, jay |

syncro westfalia!!!
that is a rarity, I know someone who has a syncro van that someone took the liberty of leaving at his house. If you need parts let me know. he had brand new heads and pistons in the box (about $2000 worth of parts) but I don't think you be needing those since you've got an SV motor.

Yes there are a few companies that make performance chips.
There are turbos available as well, other members can tell you how to do the install on that, as I am no where near brave enough to test those waters. other small things you could do, Conal air cleaner Different exhaust (i'm guessing that'd have to be custom made) Take all the seats out, and the floor, and cutoff the roof to reduce weight, that might help.... There just isn't much out there.....Lest you have $$$, and want to get major stuff (i.e. turbo, or have someone custom make stuff). |

As for power up here, I've talked to a bunch of people here and all of us are saying the same thing. Tubro or nitrous is the only way to go. Ryan

SVX in a Westfalia- altitude blues
I'm in Idaho and am limited in engine compartment space- it fits like a glove-
http://www.smallcar.com/vanagon/fitz/index.htm I was mainly wondering about a chip -my installer said there's one made in Australia-and the results folks had that have them installed. thanks for your reply! |

I think there are 3 makers of chips for the SVX...
http://www.subaru-svx.net/forum/show...highlight=chip Here is a thread that talks about one of them. one post states that there is a noticable difference in power. |
