SUBARU Alcyone (SVX/XT) Dragon Meet

The XT6 Board I’m on have in the past had our Dragon meet at the same time as the NASIOC group, but have decided this year to hold our meet on a different weekend.

So we are going to have a Alcyone Meet (SVX & XT) at the Dragon on the weekend of June 9th-11th.

We are working on getting group rates at the Fontana Village Inn, and I’ll post that info as it comes in, but wanted to get some SVXers thinking about it, as it is a incredible road and beautiful scenery all around.

In addition to the” Dragon” (a section of Hwy 129, with 318 curves in 11 miles), there is the “Hellbender” (Hwy 28) and the Cherohala Skyway, all of which are great roads to drive.

Some info on the Area can be found here:
http://www.tailofthedragon.com/

Fontana Village Resort’s site is here:
http://www.fontanavillage.com/

Call: 800-849-2258 to researve a room or cabin, tell them you're with the Subaru Alcyone Group

So if you’d like to come join in on the fun, let me know so I can keep a approximate headcount….If you’ve never been to the Dragon, you owe it to yourself to go.

You know I'll be there with my 4.444ed SVX, even though it takes a very long to drive all the way up there.

has anyone else heard of the recent crackdown on The Dragon? My roomate is planning on going to the E30 Dragon meet, but they are concerned about the recent hikes in police presence and enforcement.

I'd like to go but without a date i wont know if i'm able. I'm not too far from there so i dont know if i'll bother with a hotel room i may just drive up and back the same day. i've lived here for 10 years and had 3 cars that all were perfect for it. And yet i've never been. But this is the year. I'm doing it as long as my tranny lets me.

I take it she ment a partner to ride and stay with

Melis will be there, you would be fine to come by yourself, we're a good bunch, and there would be several member of the XT, or SVX board that you'd have to hang out with, or ride with while you're there.
We have a few member that come from a long ways away, by themself (Steve for one) so don't let that stop you from coming and having a good time.

You can't get to bored at a Alcyone Meet, as the people are too nice
Always a group to hang with.

Jen came to the meet last year by herself, and really seemed to have a good time (till her tranny went out)

Anyway, just want to make sure you feel welcome, even if you come by yourself...if anything, that's a c=good reason to go, so you can meet some new people.

I'm glad to see there is some interest in this meet here, we had 6 XT's there last year, one from Colorado (would've been 7, but Stevesby's XT-Turbo blew th erear main on the way up from Texas, but he rented a car, and came on up anyway! What a trooper!! ), so I'd like to see at least as many SVX's as XT's there....I know of 2 for sure right now (both Red)....I'll most likely be in my XT6.....

Everyone that's been has had a great time, so come on down

I haven't heard anything about it, but there is usually at least one weekend a year where they really crack down on them at the Dragon, just hope it isn't the weekend we're there!

If it is, there are plenty of other roads just as fun as the Dragon to drive...

Did you check with GreenMarine? He has a windshield that I sold him a year or so ago that he didn't put in b/c it didn't have the gasket on it. You can make a workable gasket. Granted it won't be exact but not really noticable. I think it went to the guy he was using to work on the car in southern VA.

So Ben, if you come, will you be in the SVX or the XT6?

The race car of course. I know I can fit the baby seat in with room to spare . Not a clue at the moment. If I can't make a car seat work in the 6 she may be gone replaced by a Legacy Turbo and currently the SVX needs a new radiator which I'm kinda not sure if I'll have in by then. Be assured that I will be the fastest driver who doesn't cross the yellow line in what ever I show up in/on.

Well,
I'm sure you'll enjoy it no matter what you drive down (but it'd be nice if it were an Alcyone of one type or another
