power steering idler pulley bracket...

hi all,

im in the process of replacing the water pump, and while relieving the tension on the pulley on the power steering bracket by turning the 12mm bolt it snaped! i was able to get the bracket off but i am now stuck with a broken powersteering idler pulley bracket bolt and wont be able to tighten the belt.

shouldnt the pulley on the bracket move freely if the bolt was to be taken out? here is a picture showing the pulley stuck???.

could i find a replacement powersteering idler pulley bracket?
where would i find it?

Is this the part# for the PWS bracket?

im sorry if im being a pest....could some one tell me what is recomended to replace if im already replacing the waterpump. the car has about 98k miles.

Other than the snapped bolt, the bracket looks fine.
Did you loosen the nut the holds that pulley on, You can't see it in that first picture, you are looking at the back of the bolt that runs through the pulley. You should be able to get a replacement for that long theaded bolt at the dealer. I think it was only a few bucks... Take that bracket along, I've heard that there are slight variations between years.

While doing the water pump, most people will also do the timing belt, crank seal, cam seals and dummy plates on the cams.

The pulley will only slide, after the nut on the front is loosened. I do see a slight tweak...

From the following diagram at subaruparts.com, it seems like the part number for the bracket is #11 - 34421PA000 @ $96.96 and the long tensioner bolt is #14 - 34435PA020 @ $1.93.

There are dual cams on each head, one has the shaft and wheel for the timing belt, this one takes the cam seal. The other cam only needs a blanking plate.

In this image, they don't have it listed with a number, but it is the cap looking item just to the right of the "5" at the end of G73205 in the center.

There are a few others, but all their prices are about the same. I use Liberty Subaru in New Jersey. The prices are about the same, but they are closer to me so shipping is quicker and cheaper.

Post in the parts wanted section, maybe someone can help you. I already sold the extra bracket I had...

That's gonna be a dealer item, it doesn't even interchange with any other Subaru's. Is it tweaked that bad??

You might not even find the part at the dealer. They may have to order one for you. Subaruparts.com is one of the best parts places you will find for price.

I would check with some of the guys who have parts cars now. Go to the Wanted forum and list it. You may get it faster that way than from the dealer and for much cheaper. Good luck.
