My New Project Car
Well I came across a deal that was to good to pass up. Got myself a 92 SVX SL-L. It's in need of a tiny bit of work.....ok, well lots of work. But the plan is to rebuild the whole thing, and drop a 5 speed in it and repaint the whole thing.
I'm also the proud owner of a 2005 Forester XT. The person who owned it before has been doing body work on the car, so as you can see, the car is in desperate need of paint. The missing panels are all inside the car at the moment. But the car does drive just fine. It's got 125,000 miles on it. It had more pizazz than I expected too. I especially like the little "power" light that comes on the dash when you floor it. I drove it home from Cosmos, MN (a ways west of Hutchinson) which was about 2 hours, and the thing drove home fine. (plus I didn't get pulled over with an unregistered car) All in all, I can't complain at all since I got the car for $500. Anyways, here are the pictures. $500 for a running car that just needs some assembly and a new coat of paint?
Sounds like my kind of ride. Too bad you're not in WI, I'd say we should team up and get our SVX's in perfect running order.

your wheels are on backwards
Looks pretty close to the spray booth...you gonna keep it black or are you thinking of a colorchange? 500 bucks for a mechanicly sound svx that can be whatever color you want is a pretty sweet deal

It does seem to have a small coolant leak, appears that it might be coming from the head gasket on the pass. side. Not a huge deal since the engine is going to be broken down anyways...

That's a great deal! And the best part of it...another SVX saved from the junkyard and edknot.
Good luck! Keep us updated on your progress.

I actually saw an SVX in a junkyard down near Delavan. It looked like it was in good shape, just needed a set of wheels (and possibly and engine/tranny/anything I couldn't see)
I was joking with my buddy that it was probably super modified and if I put wheels on it, it'd be fast as hell. ($20 to ANYONE who gets that reference)

I think I would take the lights off of it before painting it.

Did they paint the wheels? They look like they have been painted.

I wonder with what though? The wheels have a very thick, plasticy, white finish to them.
I used to use epoxy refrigerator paint on wheels to make 'em look like that.

hopefully, I'll be getting different wheels at some point. I'm not really a fan of the ones that are on it. Nothing blingy though.

While we're on the subject of wheels, WRX STi '05+ wheels fit on teh SVX right?

The SVX uses 5X114.3 or 5x4.5
which means that you can use Nissan, Lexus, mustang rims to name a few. Stock offset is +55, but other rims may work. The only other subarus to use this bolt pattern is the 2005+ STi and the Tribeca. |
