does my car look like its been lowered?
ive noticed my car bottoms easily, it feels like the suspension isnt working right. does it look like my car has been lowered or does it look like the suspension is just sagging and i need to get new stuff? or is this how its supposed to look? from some other pictures of svx's ive seen they look like they sit highter than mine does. im just not sure if its supposed to look like this or if there is something wrong like someone lowered it or its suspension is sagged out. sorry for the dirty pictures, she hasnt had a bath in a while. i just dont see the point when i live on a dirt road haha. thanks for any opinions!

There's only about 2 or 3 inches of clearance between my rear tire and the trim on the underside of the fender.
Don't think it looks lowered. |

I don't think so, either.

I don't think it looks lowered either. I'll also add that when she's cleaned up I bet she's one fine example of an SVX. Nice car!

thanks everyone! i guess i just need to get some new struts and what not. she is pretty nice, except last week someone hit my pass. wheel well right between the door and the panel, bent the door and the panel a little bit. i was pretty pissed about that. again, thanks for the opinions, i dont see very many svx's to compare mine to, at least i dont see them sitting still, maybe once a month on the highway. i just dont think mine should bottom so easily and i think it should have a smoother ride. ill just look into the suspension some more!

Doesn't look lowered to me. The SVX just rides low and hits stuff. I'm still not quite used to it because I drove a Legacy for a while. Every now and again I hit the tow hooks on deep slopes.

When I was on stock suspension I found myself bottoming out on steep driveways. If I inched up on an angle I would avoid scraping the tow hooks.
Are you bottoming out on potholes or going up driveways?

im bottoming on... not really pot holes but just some bigger dips on some of the dirt roads i live around. i have bottomed on some pot holes around town though. i usually bottom going certain speeds and its only when the hole or dip is a certain size. (i dont know how fast im going when i hit them because my speedo doesnt work). sometimes i bottom pretty hard and im not going very fast and the dip isnt really bad either. when i used to have my saturn i would never bottom on the stuff im bottoming on now.

Just don't drive too fast and you will be fine. Struts on Subaru's never wear out. I'm sure you are fine. Just get used to driving a car that sits so low to the ground. And please wash it, just not right 4 a SVX to be that dirty!

doesn't look lowered to me either, but you might want to check that the springs are installed right. when i got mine, the previous owner cut them and installed backward and upside down, i know stupid, stupid, and stupider. the car handled like crap, bottomed often, and the f'in springs kept hitting the wall of the strut tower took me like a week to figure out what was happening. just something to ponder.
ps. looks like you park in the bat cave. |

It looks stock ride height to me. I bottom out sometimes. A good tip to prevent bottoming out is to take the speed bump, hill or down slope (loss for words) on a slant. I hate NY roads. Theres major pot holes here. They devour small cars.

On both my 92s, the rear strut mounts had rusted through, the mount collapses, lowering the back about 1". On a flat, level section of asphalt , check that the center section of the car is parallel to the ground. It is hard to see the collapsed mount from the bottom, it can be felt by hand, especially if you have a good one to compare to.
